Job Summary:
Seeking an experienced Microsoft System Engineer with deep expertise in SharePoint Farm Administration for Subscription Edition in a hybrid configuration with SharePoint Online in secure settings. The ideal candidate will manage and optimize Windows Server environments, virtualized infrastructure, and enterprise service delivery, while also administering and supporting complex SharePoint farms in a secure, hybrid federal environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Systems Engineering & Infrastructure
Administer, configure, and maintain Windows Server 2016 and newer environments (patching, upgrades, performance tuning).
Design, implement, and support virtualized infrastructure (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.).
Coordinate with enterprise service delivery teams (ICAM, Cyber Security, domain admins, etc.) for integration and compliance.
Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and proactively address risks to stability and security.
Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
Support enterprise authentication, access management, and security controls per federal standards.
Participate in planning and execution of system migrations, upgrades, and technology refreshes.
Provide Tier 3 support for escalated issues and mentor junior engineers.
SharePoint Farm Administration (Subscription Edition, Hybrid)
Administer and maintain SharePoint Subscription Edition farms, including installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades.
Manage hybrid SharePoint environments, integrating on-premises farms with SharePoint Online.
Monitor farm health, performance, and capacity; implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
Configure and manage service applications, web applications, site collections, and permissions.
Troubleshoot and resolve farm-level issues, including connectivity, authentication, and integration with enterprise services.
Collaborate with stakeholders to support business solutions and ensure secure, compliant SharePoint operations.
Develop and enforce best practices for SharePoint farm administration, governance, and security.
Stay current with SharePoint Subscription Edition and Online features, updates, and federal compliance requirements.
Key Skills and Capabilities
Advanced knowledge of Windows Server 2016+ and Active Directory.
Experience with virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
Expertise in SharePoint Subscription Edition farm administration (installation, configuration, patching, upgrades).
Experience managing hybrid SharePoint environments (on-premises and SharePoint Online integration).
Familiarity with enterprise authentication, PKI, and identity management (ICAM).
Understanding of federal cybersecurity standards and compliance.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for infrastructure and SharePoint farm issues.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional enterprise teams.
Excellent documentation and communication skills.
Experience supporting classified environments (yellow/red networks) highly desirable.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field (or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree).
8+ years of IT experience, with at least 5 years in system engineering and SharePoint farm administration.
Relevant certifications (Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, SharePoint Hybrid, VMware Certified Professional, etc.) are a plus.
Active TS/SCI clearance required.
