Job Summary

The Accounts Payable Manager will oversee all functional areas of ADTRAN’s accounts payable operations, including invoice processing, vendor management, expense reporting oversight, compliance, and payment execution. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient AP processes while maintaining strong internal controls and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

The Accounts Payable Manager will lead the AP Team, partner with internal departments, support audits, and play a key role in system implementations and process optimization. This position reports to the Director of Accounting or equivalent leadership role.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Accounts Payable Department, including invoice processing, expense report auditing, payment scheduling, and vendor account management.
  • Manage, develop, and mentor the AP Team to ensure strong performance, cross-training, and a collaborative working environment.
  • Ensure all payments—including domestic and international payments—are accurate, timely, and compliant with ADTRAN policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and approve high‑value invoices, exception items, expense reports, and critical vendor payments.
  • Lead the month‑end and year‑end closing procedures for the AP function, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
  • Serve as a primary liaison with Procurement, Finance, Internal Audit, and external auditors.
  • Oversee the timely resolution of issues related to vendor statements, discrepancies, non‑compliant expense report submissions, and invoice holds.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls related to AP workflows, delegation of authority, and audit documentation.
  • Lead or support system implementations and upgrades—including SAP, BaaN, and integrations with expense and reporting tools.
  • Develop KPIs, dashboards, and reporting to measure AP performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the quarterly and annual audit processes for both internal and external audits.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and internal business partners while ensuring a high level of service and communication.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects that reduce risk, enhance efficiency, and support corporate initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties and project assignments as required to support the evolving needs of the department and the Company.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounts payable or accounting experience, including at least 2–3 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience working in a hybrid work schedule environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AP processes, internal controls, vendor management, and GAAP‑related AP principles.

Preferred Qualifications (Optional)

  • Experience working with SAP, BaaN, QlikView, and/or other ERP and analytics systems.
  • Experience supporting global or multi‑entity Accounts Payable operations.
  • Exposure to system implementations or process reengineering initiatives.
  • Understanding of international payment processes and compliance requirements.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive accounts payable or accounting experience
