KRCR has an exciting opportunity to join the #1 news team in Northern California as a Meteorologist / MMJ. This unique hybrid role presents the weather forecast on weekends and reports in the field 3 days a week.
Responsibilities:
- Produce and present weather reports that are engaging and impactful to viewers
- Create weathercasts and other content for our broadcast, digital, and social platforms
- Research, write, and deliver weather stories in a clear and concise manner
- Pitch story ideas, develop contacts, and report 3 days a week
- Work with the weather team. managers, and producers to determine relevant weather content in breaking and everyday situations
- Fill-in coverage for morning and evening meteorologists
- Take part in promotional station opportunities, including public appearances
Skills Needed:
- Ability to tell memorable and meaningful stories. We value visual and compelling storytelling.
- Ability to demonstrate experience with active and visual live shots
- Strong knowledge of meteorology and forecasting
- Sharp news judgment and strong writing skills
- Ability to multitask while meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks
- Proficient in social media
- Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
- 1 year of experience in weather presentation or reporting preferred. College experience is accepted.

The base hourly compensation range for this role is $19.50 to $21.68 per hour. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates’ relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, personal time, parental leave and employee stock purchase plan.
