Finishing Mill Metallurgist
Responsibilities- Review, comment, and approve product inquiries and orders for Finishing Mill capability, parameters, and quality.
- Interface with customers, sales, and other technical resources for mill capability, mill parameters, quality, and metallurgical concerns.
- Create and update mill process control instructions as well as quality work
- Communicate changes to Finishing Mill Units process control or quality work instructions to mill operations.
- Evaluate current production against quality parameters to determine product disposition.
- Drive root cause investigation of internal/external quality issues, report findings, initiate improvement measures.
- Interpret and communicate Department issues to customers and other internal Interpret and communicate customer issues to mill personnel and other internal organizations.
- Actively participate in team problem solving activities related to improving quality metrics, Finishing Mill capabilities, and production efficiency.
- Collaborate with Product Development and Technical Services group in developing new products or modifying existing products to meet customer needs or changing market.
- Support customer visits, mill tours, technical exchanges, and affiliated industry organizations.
- Collaborate with Product Development, Mill Personnel and Tech Service Resources in improving product robustness as well as conversion costs.
- B.S. degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering
- Excellent Problem-Solving capabilities required
- Proven leadership, verbal & written communications, and presentation skills
- Capable of prioritizing and multitasking
- Ability to work independently with little or no
- Proficiency in: Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and other data search and analysis tools

- 5 years of experience in steel production and/or applications
- Knowledge of ISO and other applicable standards, such as TS
- Demonstrated knowledge of rolling, product specs, testing procedures, properties, customers, applications
- Product development experience with cold rolled and coated products
