Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum four (4) years of industrial, fabrication, construction, or metalworking experience preferred.
  • Experience using basic hand tools and power tools required.
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
  • Basic knowledge of fabrication and installation processes preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain site-specific safety certifications and customer-required training.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Reliable transportation to and from assigned work locations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Knowledge of basic metal fabrication, installation, and construction practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work instructions.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and metalworking equipment.
  • Knowledge of measuring devices, including tape measures, squares, levels, and calipers.
  • Ability to perform basic layout, fitting, and material handling tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
  • Ability to identify and correct minor fit-up and alignment issues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and recognize workplace hazards.
  • Dependable work ethic with a commitment to attendance, safety, and productivity.

Essential Functions

  • Measure, mark, cut, fit, and assemble metal components according to specifications and project requirements.
  • Assist with the fabrication, installation, modification, and repair of metal structures and equipment.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, grinders, saws, drills, and other metalworking equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, and fabrication sketches.
  • Prepare metal surfaces through grinding, cleaning, and deburring processes.
  • Assist with layout work and material preparation prior to fabrication and installation activities.
  • Align and position metal parts for assembly and installation.
  • Inspect materials and completed work to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Load, unload, transport, and organize materials, equipment, and tools.
  • Perform field measurements and assist in troubleshooting fit-up and installation issues.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in work areas and fabrication shops.
  • Follow all company policies, customer requirements, and OSHA safety regulations.
  • Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Work alongside welders, fitters, painters, scaffold builders, and other crafts as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds; heavier weights with assistance.
  • Ability to work in awkward positions and confined spaces when required.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work from scaffolding, and perform work at elevated heights.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements involving hands, arms, shoulders, and back.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to: 
  • hard hat, safety glasses, face shield, gloves, hearing protection, FR clothing, steel-toed footwear, FR clothing, fall protection, respiratory protection and other project-specific PPE. 

Work Environment 

  • Work is performed in industrial facilities, fabrication shops, construction sites, refineries, petrochemical plants, and maintenance environments.
  • Regular exposure to dust, sparks, metal shavings, noise, vibrations, and moving equipment.
  • May be exposed to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, wind, and rain.
  • Work may be performed indoors or outdoors depending on project requirements.
  • May be required to work at heights, in confined spaces, and around heavy machinery and energized equipment.
  • Noise levels may range from moderate to high, requiring hearing protection.
