Team Overview
The Media Partnerships and Investments team manages an active and growing portfolio of digital media and information businesses spanning audio, video, and next-generation content brands. The team takes a hands-on, operator-informed approach to value creation, working closely with portfolio company leadership on strategy, governance, and shared infrastructure.
Job Overview
This position sits within SFM’s Media Partnerships and Investments team, with responsibility spanning both new investment evaluation and ongoing oversight of existing holdings. The work is roughly split between analyzing potential investments and engaging directly with the management teams of current portfolio companies– tracking performance, identifying issues, and supporting strategic decisions.
You’ll join a small, established team with a flat structure and direct access to senior leadership. This is not a pure research or modeling role. The right person will be comfortable moving between a financial model and a conversation with a CEO.
Major Responsibilities
- Evaluate new investment opportunities in media and communications – both proprietary and inbound – including market research, financial modeling, due diligence, and written materials for investment discussions and stakeholder updates
- Monitor existing portfolio companies against investment plan, flag performance variances, and develop views on underlying business cases
- Work directly with portfolio company management teams to support strategic initiatives spanning organic and inorganic growth
- Track industry dynamics across digital media, audio, and adjacent sectors and maintain a current point of view on valuation, competitive positioning, and business model evolution
What We Value
- 3-5 years of experience across some combination of investment banking, private equity, management consulting, or corporate strategy at a media or technology company – the specific path matters than the quality of the thinking
- Strong financial modeling skills; you are able to build from scratch and defend assumptions
- Experience working directly with senior management or clients, not just in support of those conversations
- Genuine interest in media – how content business make money, how audiences are built and retained, how the industry is being restructured by technology
- Clear, direct written and verbal communication; you must be able to synthesize a complex situation into a crisp recommendation
- Comfortable operating with limited structure and shifting priorities
We anticipate the base salary of this role to be between $175,000-$200,000. In addition to a base salary, the successful candidate will also be eligible to receive a discretionary year-end bonus.
In all respects, candidates need to reflect the following SFM core values:
Smart risk-taking // Owner’s Mindset // Teamwork // Humility // Integrity
Top Skills
