Overview: 

We are seeking a passionate and creative volunteer Media and Messaging Volunteer to support our storytelling, outreach, and engagement efforts. In this role, you'll help craft compelling content that brings our mission to life, informs our community, and inspires action. This is a great opportunity for a writer looking to make a difference, build their portfolio, or support a cause they care about. 


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Write clear, engaging copy for a variety of platforms including newsletters, blog posts, social media, press releases, and website content. 

  • Collaborate with staff and other volunteers to develop story ideas and interview subjects. 

  • Help maintain a consistent brand voice and messaging across all communications. 

  • Support the development of donor and supporter communications, such as impact stories and thank-you letters. 

  • Assist with editing and proofreading materials as needed. 

  • Stay updated on organizational initiatives and help brainstorm new ways to share our work with the public. 


These qualities and skills will be helpful: 

  • Excellent written communication skills and a strong grasp of grammar, style, and tone. 

  • Experience writing for blogs, newsletters, or social media (personal or professional). 

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. 

  • Familiarity with nonprofit communication strategies is a plus. 

  • Passion for the Spokane County Democrats and a desire to contribute meaningfully.
