Department Summary
Hillsboro Technical Operations (HTO) is a drug product & finished goods manufacturing organization responsible for the reliable delivery of Roche’s commercial portfolio & pipeline products. The Manufacturing organization at HTO is divided into two groups, Aseptic \Operations and Finished Goods,, which combine to produce millions of units of life-saving medicine every year to patients around the world. This position is in the Manufacturing, Science and Technology (MSAT) organization. In this position, you will need to work effectively as part of a team responsible for ensuring successful and efficient plant operations, through robust processes and innovative new technologies.
This internship position is located in Hillsboro, Oregon and is onsite.
The Opportunity
Participate in the identification, evaluation, and implementation of new process technologies in alignment with business objectives or regulatory requirements.
On a regular basis analyze processes, make suggestions for improvement to management, & provide input to improving systems/processes.
Collect, clean and process data for AI applications and train machine learning models.
Support troubleshooting of atypical and unplanned downtime events, as well as resulting in corrective or preventive action implementation.
Provide troubleshooting and issue resolution support for plant equipment to decrease time of recovery from process and or equipment malfunctions.
Foster an environment that encourages continuous learning. Maintain expertise as necessary to stay abreast of technical and industry advancements.
Represents group on cross functional teams or projects of limited scope.
Program Highlights
Intensive 6 months, full time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
Program start dates are in June (Summer).
A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.
Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.
Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.
Who You Are (Required)
Required Education: You meet the following criteria:
Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).
Required Majors: Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
Required Skills:
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Good Documentation practice and presentation skills.
Strong data analysis and visualization skills.
Proficiency in Python and understanding of machine learning algorithms and LLMs.
Key to this position is the demonstrated ability to provide technical input and teamwork in a cGMP environment.
Systemic thinking, putting different observation into a broader context.
High level of independence and the ability to drive projects towards aligned goals.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:
Knowledge in data analysis tools like Excel, Minitab, R or any coding skills are advantageous.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Oregon is $27.00-$28.00 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits
