Job Summary & Responsibilities

This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a high-visibility program while gaining hands-on experience with mechanical systems, substrate handling components, and system-level troubleshooting used in advanced manufacturing equipment.

The Mechanical Systems Engineer Intern will work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to support system design, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Assist in troubleshooting electromechanical systems under the guidance of senior engineers, identifying root causes and supporting corrective actions.

  • Help reduce production labor, cycle time, and material cost through mechanical design improvements and process optimization.

  • Read, understand, and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and system-level documentation, recommending and implementing updates as needed.

  • Use diagnostic and measurement tools (e.g., calipers, torque tools, sensors, multimeters, oscilloscopes) to analyze mechanical and mechatronic system performance.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing, electrical, and systems engineering teams to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and utilization.

  • Review End-of-Life (EOL) components and support redesign efforts using currently available mechanical or electromechanical components.

  • Assist in improving system documentation, design standards, and test procedures.

  • Document test results, troubleshooting steps, design changes, and recommendations to support future improvements and product scalability.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Ideal candidates will be graduating this year or in 2027.

  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits, troubleshooting, and schematic reading

  • Familiarity with electrical diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Eagerness to learn and apply engineering principles in a real-world setting.
