As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you’ll be responsible for managing engineered projects and delivering complete technical design packages within the Docking & Mooring function. You’ll ensure that all project designs are compliant, tested, documented, and delivered on time and within budget.
You’ll collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to meet technical specifications, industry standards, and customer expectations — all while driving innovation and continuous improvement.
- Lead mechanical design and drafting using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Manage project elements including forecasting, cost, schedule, and billing
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth execution
- Review contracts and ensure alignment with commercial and technical requirements
- Design equipment to meet project specifications and relevant standards (IEC, AS, ISO)
- Generate post-award technical documentation, including drawings and BoMs
- Prepare manufacturing and “as-built” documentation
- Review material data records and inspection test plans
- Assist in creating installation, operations, and maintenance manuals
- Source BOM components using ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics AX)
- Coordinate manufacturing and testing requirements with production teams
- Develop and execute test procedures for new designs
- Validate product assemblies and ensure compliance with standards (AS4100, OCIMF, AWS)
- Support updates to standard product documentation and specifications
- Contribute to strategic initiatives within the Project Engineering Group
- Stay current with engineering trends and manufacturing processes
- Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on alternative solutions
? Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 5-10 years of experience in project engineering or mechanical design
- Experience with design houses, contractors, or vendors preferred
- Strong understanding of mechanical and structural design principles
- Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), MS Project.
- Basic knowledge of Mathcad.
- Excellent CAD modeling and design-for-manufacture skills
- Familiarity with manufacturing methods and quality systems
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and a proactive team player
- Willingness to travel for meetings, site visits, or project execution as required.
- Experience with standards such as ASME, ISO, PD 5500, EN 13445, and NACE MR0175 is a plus
