At CESO, a Mechanical Project Engineer I demonstrates the ability to perform a wide variety of technical assignments independently with little or no oversight for small, intermediate, or large projects and completes all necessary tasks on assigned projects so projects finish on time, within budget and consistent with industry production and care standards.  The Project Engineer I will continuously seek opportunities to learn and develop within the discipline with senior staff support.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Begin to take responsibility for project designs under the Engineer of Record supervision with senior staff oversight.
  • Communicate design requirements and assist project managers with project coordination and facilitation between architects, contractors, other engineers, equipment manufacturer representatives, and other team members to determine project scope, feasibility, and equipment needs, and provide operating procedures and technical information.
  • Attend and participate in owner, client, or architect meetings as needed and visit project sites to verify existing conditions and/or observe construction progress.
  • Participate in client, company, and industry events to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Consistently maintains proficient understanding of industry standards and regulations.
  • Perform calculations, develop design approaches and concepts, design engineering system(s), and fulfill other duties as assigned through collaboration with junior and senior staff, and senior staff and Engineer of Record approval.
  • Create intermediate to advanced system layouts, detail drawings, schematics, and schedules using Revit, AutoCAD or other software.
  • Develop Heating and Cooling Load Calculations within Carrier HAP software.
  • Model airside ductwork, air terminals, and equipment.
  • Model waterside piping, pumps, terminal and main equipment.
  • Help prepare and modify studies, plans, reports, specifications, and project designs.
  • Reviews work for technical accuracy and completeness prior to final QA/QC review.
  • Reviews Shop Drawings and Equipment Submittals for conformance to plan documents and project specifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university and 5 or more years of relevant experience is required; Master’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering, or similar discipline, can substitute up to 1 year of work experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, AEC industry, codes and standards is required.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.
  • Computer skills necessary to enter daily timesheet data and use Microsoft Outlook for email correspondence.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Revit, Carrier HAP, and BlueBeam Revu.
