As a multi-discipline firm, Isett provides a full range of engineering and consulting services, including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, environmental, geotechnical, and municipal engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, code enforcement, plan review, construction management, construction materials testing, and grant writing services to clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

We have an opportunity for a Mechanical Operations Manager to work closely with the Department Head to lead team performance, oversee staffing and resource planning, and drive successful project execution across multiple offices. This position can be based out of any of our office locations. 

Because our employees are usually involved in several projects at one time, involving numerous team members (such as project manager, engineer, and CAD technician/designer), exceptional communications skills and the ability to work well with others is essential.

The best candidate will be a Professional (Mechanical) Engineer with at least ten years’ experience in the design and management of heating, cooling, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, lighting, and air distribution systems projects. Some of the accomplishments we are looking for include experience in building and maintaining client relations, business development, delegation of responsibility, and the ability to mentor designers and junior engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Review engineering plans, specifications, and project deliverables to ensure technical accuracy and quality standards.
  • Oversee the quality and consistency of engineering work within the department.
  • Prepare project proposals, budgets, scopes of work, and technical reports.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, resource plans, and budgets.
  • Monitor project and departmental performance, including utilization and profitability goals.
  • Collaborate with Department leadership and project teams to ensure successful project delivery and adherence to timelines.
  • Maintain strong client relationships, participate in project presentations, and support business development efforts.
  • Manage project scope changes, including communicating additional services and associated costs to clients.
  • Support project billing processes and coordinate with accounting to ensure accurate and timely invoicing.
  • Assist with staff development, including mentoring, performance feedback, and supporting career growth opportunities.
  • Contribute to recruiting, training, and onboarding of new team members.
  • Promote a collaborative team environment and support cross-functional training opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and actively participate in safety training initiatives.
Requirements
  • B.S. Civil Engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineer license is preferred but is not required 
  • Strong organizational, technical, and communication skills
  • Prior project and client management experience
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching junior staff
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Valid driver's license 
  • Ability to obtain clearances (for PA school projects)
