Introduction to the job
Are you a competent Mechanical Engineer interested in Tooling Development that knows how to lead and inspire others? Can you focus on important details while also keeping an eye on the bigger picture? Do you know how to draft and translate performance specifications into cost effective, quality designs?
In this role you will take the lead in running several Mechanical Tooling developments from start to finish, together with Architects and a small team of Mechanical Engineers.
Roles and responsibilities
The tools within your ownership will all have their own challenges from both a mechanical- and project/stakeholder-management standpoint. You will have the freedom and authority to decide on the best way to steer towards the desired results.
Next to being a great engineer, communication and building/leveraging a network are your strong suits. So your tools are not only well-designed, but also ergonomically safe, manufacturable, serviceable and reliable.
You have a basic grasp of Project & People management, Leadership skills and know how to balance the triple constraint while maintaining a quality focus. The main responsibilities are:

Taking the lead in running tool developments, while guiding a team of Mechanical Engineers

Translating functional roadmaps into mechanical solutions with the support of Architects

Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders/customers and balancing their needs/requirements.

Balancing design decisions based on module/function purpose, business priorities and triple constraint

Understanding quality requirements from D&E/MDEV perspective and translating these to SEG documentation

Delegating work within the team and following up with mentoring & coaching. Providing input for bottom-up activity planning from internal team & external parties (suppliers & co-developers)

Proactively improving Tooling Competence by supporting Competence Leads (10% time focus). Proactively improving Team environment by contributing to overarching Group/Department goals (10% time focus)
Education and experience
-
5+ years of relevant working experience
-
Experience with leading a design/engineering team in a complex technical environment
-
Knowledge of large frames, welded structures, ergonomics and basic mechatronics is preferred
Knowledge & experience with international safety standards related to working at height is a plus -
Experience with Siemens NX & Teamcenter is a plus
Skills

Highly motivated team player with excellent social, coordination and communication skills

Ability to work in an international, multicultural setting

Ability to provide technical direction, motivate and convince a team of professionals

Within ASML, the sector Development & Engineering (D&E) is responsible for the specification, design and engineering of the ASML products.
In this sector, departments such as Mechatronics, Mechanics and Electronics specify, design, and qualify the various modules of the ASML products. Each department consists of discipline and function oriented groups where emphasis lies on particular competence or functions in ASML equipment.
Within the Mechanics Department, Manufacturing & Service Tooling is such a group.
