The Position
As a Mechanical Engineering Process Manager, you will be responsible of ensuring that our processes are simple, stable, compliant, and continuously improved. You will set the strategic direction for the mechanical engineering processes for device development, establish process groups, align with stakeholders within the process organization and you decide on the right level of standardization and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) description for the area. The processes guide mechanical engineers throughout the development phases of the product.
When designing our products, it is paramount they are safe and effective to use. In DDS, we define a delivery solution as robust, when it can fulfil its stakeholder needs and requirements even considering the specified variation from either manufacturing or intended use. We ensure this by conducting a continuous technical assessment of the products ability to fulfil stakeholder needs across the full value chain as an integral part of the daily project execution. The engineering processes across all relevant development areas (Systems Robustness) enables the identification of trade-offs as well as technical risks and issues all providing a foundation for data-based governance decisionsThe mechanical engineering processes reach across different areas within Devices & Delivery Solutions (DDS) but into areas within Device Manufacturing Development (DMD).
Your day-to-day areas of responsibility will include:

  • Aligning expectations across the subareas Kinematics, Tolerance Analysis, Structural analysis, Materials, GPS, DFM and DFA and develop the process to balance professional excellence with engineers' project execution capabilities while balancing the needs of our stakeholders and customers
  • Sparring with mechanical functional leads, acting as your proxies in daily project execution
  • Participating in technical reviews of product designs during the design and development phases
  • Investigating the utilization of existing digital platforms for scalability and traceability in design phases and product maintenance
  • Developing and set the direction for utilization of digital tools and platforms to improve process efficiency in design phases and product maintenance
  • Developing and setting the direction for technical processes in collaboration with mechanical competency areas defined as technical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in fields such as Kinematics, Tolerance, Structural Analysis, Materials, GPS, DFM, and DFA.
  • Collaborating with the Technical Director, who is responsible for technical product integration and with process managers from other areas


Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A master's degree in engineering or any other relevant fiend, 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering and excellent communication skills in English
  • Solid understanding of the link between mechanical design and very high-volume production
  • Continuous improvement process mindset
  • Experience in pharma or other regulated industries is advantageous
  • Understanding and interaction with other engineering domains while maintaining focus on mechanical engineering

About the department
Delivery Systems Engineering Mech. is part of Devices & Delivery Solutions, which is responsible for the development of medical devices for disease self-treatment within all business areas of Novo Nordisk A/S. In Device Engineering (DE), we are responsible for all project deliveries within key engineering disciplines, including Systems Engineering, Risk Management, and Mechanical Engineering. We work as a team continuously adapting to deliver best-in-class products in the most efficient and enjoyable way possible.
In Device Engineering Mechanical we are responsible for all Mechanical Engineering deliveries. We are a team of over 50 people divided in four departments focused on supporting the development and support maintenance of different types of devices. Being part of a new and growing organization requires a strong focus on collaboration and ensuring competence development and process optimization/development for our specific engineering area.
DE is part of Delivery Solutions Engineering (DSE) in DDS, and we are passionate about developing the world's best medical devices for the treatment of chronic diseases within our focused therapeutic areas: Diabetes, Obesity, Haemophilia & Growth hormone disorders. We design and develop delivery systems for our treatments to ensure correct dosing and convenience for the patient. Our devices are developed in close collaboration between patients and the scientific discovery teams at Novo Nordisk, ensuring that the developed devices are safe and easy for patients to use while being compatible with the drug products taken into development.
