Radiance Technologies, a rapidly growing 100% employee-owned company, is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to support a space payload R&D group. This individual will directly support the execution of design, development, integration and testing efforts of multiple space payload programs. The candidate will work as an individual contributor and within a diverse, multi-discipline engineering team, and will be responsible for applying sound mechanical engineering and design principles in the development of space payload structures.
Responsibilities
Design and develop mechanical components and structures for space payload systems
Create and release detailed engineering drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.100 standards
Perform 3D modeling and assembly design using tools such as SolidWorks or Siemens NX
Conduct structural, thermal, and/or fluid analysis to ensure system performance and reliability
Support system integration, testing, and validation activities
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams across multiple programs
Execute tasks independently while meeting aggressive schedules and program milestones
Participate in and present at program-level design reviews (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR)
Derive mechanical and structural requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field
Minimum of 3+ years of relevant engineering experience
Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Siemens NX)
Experience creating engineering drawings compliant with ASME Y14.100
Strong understanding of mechanical design, , and development processes
Demonstrated ability to work independently on fast-paced projects with tight deadlines
Experience deriving engineering requirements and supporting system-level design
U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance
Desired Qualifications
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field
6+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience
Experience leading academic or professional design/development projects
Background in space, missile, or launch vehicle programs
Experience with structural, thermal, or fluid analysis
Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, and/or MathCAD for engineering analysis
Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or Product Data Management (PDM) systems
Hands-on assembly experience
Strong presentation skills with experience in technical design reviews
Active SECRET clearance or higher
