3 years' experience in the oil & gas/mining industry with preference toward Tailings – Maintenance Engineering
Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
Registered or immediately eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) and in good standing.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, responsibilities and projects while maintaining high quality work.
Strong interpersonal, time management, and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a functional environment.
Share your engineering knowledge with other team members and be eager to learn from colleagues.
Success applying ASME and API standards including ASME B16 Series, B31.3, B31.4, Section VIII - Div 1 & 2 and API 579. Additional consideration given for API 610 and 682 use.
Familiarity with metallic and non-metallic materials used in slurry transport.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct field walkdowns.
Develop piping scopes, drawings, and bills of materials (BOM)
Respond to RFIs and technical questions from operations, supply chain, and vendors
Support root cause analysis (RCA) investigations and implement corrective actions
Develop spare parts requirements and post-LSD replenishment
Develop and manage MOCs for Coarse Tailings, Fine Tailings, Drainage, and Wells
Prepare SOWs for shutdowns, lifts, and spool changes
Support Tailings Reliability in asset performance analytics (e.g., wear rates, service life)
Location and other Key Details:
The shift schedule is a 7 days on / 7 days off rotation; 12-hour shifts
You will work out of our camp-based Fort Hills mining site, located in Alberta’s Athabasca region, 90 kilometers' north of Fort McMurray, Alberta on a FIFO (Fly-in Fly-out) from Calgary or Edmonton or BIBO (Bus-in-Bus-out) for Fort McMurray residents.
