Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the hiring manager and cross-functional teams to enhance our manufacturing processes for non-woven sheet materials used in the production of mopping disposable pads. The primary focus will be on understanding material and manufacturing limitations related to welding, gluing, and slitting/perforation techniques, with key focus on prototyping and optimizing approaches for these methods with respect to a continuous roll manufactured product.  Our goal is to improve consumer tear-off functionality and to optimize the tuft layer of the pads, ensuring adequate tuft spacing and maximizing particle pickup efficiency.

Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with the hiring manager and cross-functional teams to understand the material and manufacturing limitations associated with welding/gluing/slitting non-woven sheet materials.

Take daily direction from the hiring manager to conduct research, perform experiments, and analyze data to develop innovative approaches for methods of continuous roll manufactured products.

Prototype and test different methods of slitting the non-woven sheet materials to enable easy tear-off for consumers at different sizes.

Optimize the tuft layer of the pads to ensure that the spacing and tear operation leave ample free tuft at the edge of the torn-off pad, as tuft is critical for effective particle pickup during mopping.

- Monitor and document the results of experiments and tests, maintaining accurate records of findings and observations.

- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to incorporate insights related to future scale up of successful approaches, ensuring seamless integration into the production process.

Qualifications

Proficiency in prototyping and conducting experiments to optimize manufacturing processes.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and draw insights from data.

- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

- Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and records.

- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

What We Do

When clients come to us for product design and development, they get a full range of technical expertise and laboratory resources, but they also get a team that’s relentless when it comes to solving problems and creating designs that are the ideal combination of function and form. What does that mean? We build tools that save lives. For surgeons, it means they have tools that not only address but anticipate their needs, which helps improve their patients’ outcomes. We create products that save money and ensure safety. For people juggling family, work, and other demands, it means they have products that provide real help in managing their everyday lives. And for businesses, it means their bottom line is supported with durable tools that improve efficiency and protect their teams. From concept to production plan, or at any phase in between, we are a partner that can extend your product development know-how or provide additional mindpower to free up in-house teams.
