Join our team as a Mechanical Engineer where you will take the lead in the verification and certification of complex test stations for mixed reality devices at our factory in Weifang, China. This role is pivotal to ensuring the readiness and performance of our test systems, requiring an independent, problem-solving mindset to manage technical challenges and drive results. You will be directly interfacing with vendors, coordinating cross-functional efforts, and collaborating with our US-based engineering team to maintain high-quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end verification and certification of test stations, ensuring they are fully operational and meet specifications.
  • Conduct systematic verification of test subsystems, including fixtures, robots, stages, cameras, sensors, and environmental controls.
  • Define, plan, and execute Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R) studies to assess measurement capabilities.
  • Perform correlation testing between stations and reference systems to guarantee measurement consistency.
  • Document verification results comprehensively and manage issue tracking throughout the bring-up process.
  • Serve as the primary daily interface with vendors, overseeing build progress, technical issues, and design updates.
  • Critically review vendor deliverables and test reports to ensure compliance with specifications and timelines.
  • Support fixture Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews and mechanical design iterations.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electromechanical, and fixture-related station issues, developing innovative solutions to unique challenges.
  • Calibrate and maintain precision linear actuators and motion stages, ensuring repeatability, accuracy, and performance.
  • Execute metrology and optical alignment tasks to uphold measurement system accuracy.
  • Manage project timelines and communicate effectively with the US-based engineering team, ensuring clear status updates and documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with precision mechanical fixtures, test equipment, or automated test stations.
  • Strong background in precision linear actuators, motorized stages, and closed-loop motion control systems.
  • Experience with optical alignment processes and measurement systems.
  • Proven capability in vendor management, accountability, and technical relationship handling.
  • Experience with GR&R or equivalent measurement system analysis methodologies.
  • Strong technical project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple workstreams.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills in mechanical and electromechanical systems.
  • Fluent in English for effective communication with the US-based team.
  • Capacity to work on-site at the factory 2-5 days per week as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with industrial robotic arms, including trajectory programming and workspace verification.
  • Familiarity with AR/VR or consumer electronics hardware development and verification.
  • Experience with environmental controls, such as thermal management and ambient lighting.
  • Proficiency in using metrology instruments like dial indicators, CMMs, laser trackers, or optical measurement systems.
  • Competence in statistical analysis tools for GR&R and correlation studies.
