Overview

Verathon® is looking for a Mechanical Engineer II to become the newest member of our Airway Sustaining Team located in Burnaby, British Columbia.

The Mechanical Engineer II is responsible for interacting with design and manufacturing resources to create changes for manufacturability, reliability, and cost effectiveness.ResponsibilitiesPrincipal Responsibilities:
  • Participate in designing, prototyping, testing and qualification of mechanical designs for high-reliability and high-performance medical devices.
  • Complete root cause investigations of manufacturing and design related failures and recommend solutions.
  • Support production activities and resolve issues quickly.
  • Evaluate product non-conformances and recommend design modifications.
  • Develop and test new manufacturing processes.
  • Review vendors process validation plans/protocols.
  • Creating test plans to verify solutions.
  • Act as a liaison between the design and manufacturing groups.
  • Assessing risk of solutions and updating technical risk documentation.
  • Work closely with electrical and software engineers, designing with system-wide perspective.
  • Interact with global and internal design and manufacturing resources to design for manufacturability, reliability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Specify and manage tool development.
  • Follow all policies, procedures and standards for engineering documentation to ensure compliance with corporate document management policy.
QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Bachelor and / or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2+ years of technical product or mechanical device design and manufacturing
  • Proven background of reviewing or preparing process validations.
  • Good knowledge of and ability to use SolidWorks and SolidWorks add-ins.
  • Experience using statistical techniques, preferably using Minitab.
  • A history of accurately identifying and documenting root cause.
  • Experience in technical team-focused workplace.
  • Ability to make independent judgments using sound engineering principles and techniques.
  • Proficient in writing concisely and accurately with meticulous attention to detail and clarity.
  • EIT status preferred

    • Salary range - $81,940 - $95,674  (Compensation will vary based on skills, experience and location; it is not typical to be hired at or above the top of the salary range).

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2+ years of technical product or mechanical device design and manufacturing experience
  • Experience reviewing or preparing process validations
  • Knowledge of and ability to use SolidWorks and SolidWorks add-ins
  • Experience using statistical techniques, preferably with Minitab
