Mechanical Drafter
Job Summary:
The Mechanical Drafter will support engineers in the creation, revision, and release of mechanical drawings within a multi-functional product development environment focused on new aircraft design. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional project personnel to ensure accurate documentation, configuration control, and design integrity throughout the development lifecycle.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Create, revise, and review engineering drawings
Own and manage top-level assemblies
Audit sub-assemblies to ensure overall system performance is maintained
Develop and maintain drawing trees and structured documentation
Advise team members on best practices related to:
3D modeling
Drawing standards and documentation
Reorganize and revise Technical Data Packages (TDP) to reflect “design as built” configuration in preparation for ERP implementation
Support configuration control and data management processes
Required Qualifications and Skills:
5–7 years of experience in CAD drafting and drawing preparation
Strong experience with SolidWorks
Experience with:
Assembly creation and organization
Drawing tools and standards
Configuration control processes
PDM/CAD database systems (SolidWorks PDM preferred)
3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Understanding of metadata requirements and data structure use cases
Development environment experience preferred
No degree required
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
ERP system experience (NetSuite preferred)
Experience in the aerospace industry
Experience in fast-paced product design and development environments
Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 and application of GD&T
Strong data management and technical writing skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including formatting and template creation)
SolidWorks certifications:
CSWP – Mechanical Design
CSWPA-SU
