Mechanical Drafter 

Job Summary: 

The Mechanical Drafter will support engineers in the creation, revision, and release of mechanical drawings within a multi-functional product development environment focused on new aircraft design. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional project personnel to ensure accurate documentation, configuration control, and design integrity throughout the development lifecycle. 

Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Create, revise, and review engineering drawings 

  • Own and manage top-level assemblies 

  • Audit sub-assemblies to ensure overall system performance is maintained 

  • Develop and maintain drawing trees and structured documentation 

  • Advise team members on best practices related to: 

  • 3D modeling 

  • Drawing standards and documentation 

  • Reorganize and revise Technical Data Packages (TDP) to reflect “design as built” configuration in preparation for ERP implementation 

  • Support configuration control and data management processes 

Required Qualifications and Skills: 

  • 5–7 years of experience in CAD drafting and drawing preparation 

  • Strong experience with SolidWorks 

  • Experience with: 

  • Assembly creation and organization 

  • Drawing tools and standards 

  • Configuration control processes 

  • PDM/CAD database systems (SolidWorks PDM preferred) 

  • 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment 

  • Understanding of metadata requirements and data structure use cases 

  • Development environment experience preferred 

  • No degree required 

Desired Qualifications and Skills: 

  • ERP system experience (NetSuite preferred) 

  • Experience in the aerospace industry 

  • Experience in fast-paced product design and development environments 

  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 and application of GD&T 

  • Strong data management and technical writing skills 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including formatting and template creation) 

  • SolidWorks certifications: 

  • CSWP – Mechanical Design 

  • CSWPA-SU
