The Mechanical Designer II is responsible for developing detailed mechanical models and drawings for mid- to high-complexity projects. This role produces complete mechanical design packages with a high degree of customization, supports multiple concurrent projects, and applies intermediate proficiency in Autodesk Inventor. The Mechanical Designer II also contributes technical expertise, supports limited electrical layout coordination as it relates to mechanical systems, and provides peer review and mentorship to junior designers and drafters.
Responsibilities/Job Duties:
- Create accurate 3D models and 2D drawings from vendor documentation with engineering direction.
- Produce complete mechanical design packages containing up to 80% custom assemblies.
- Manage and execute work for up to four (4) concurrent mid- to high-custom projects.
- Maintain high drafting accuracy with fewer than two (2) redline iterations on average due to drafting errors.
- Create mechanical layouts for conduit supports and accommodate wiring requirements with input from an Advisor.
- Reuse, adapt, and integrate vendor and legacy designs into current projects.
- Provide peer reviews and technical feedback for junior designers and drafters as requested.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with recognized expertise in at least one technical or
product category.- Overall software proficiency – Inventor or AutoCAD Electrical
- Bridging technologies – i.e. FEA module mastery; iLogic Automation; Welding, fitting, or other manufacturing related processes; etc.
- Product related – i.e. PG/SES design processes, Vessel creation processes, etc.
- Ensure all deliverables meet company standards, engineering requirements, and project timelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Intermediate proficiency in Autodesk Inventor.
- Strong understanding of mechanical drafting standards and documentation practices.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- High attention to detail with a focus on design accuracy and consistency.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams.
Education/Experience:
- Associate's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical drafting and design. Experience with process piping is a plus.
- Certification in Autodesk Inventor preferred.
- Proficient in Autodesk (Inventor, AutoCAD, Vault); familiarity with other design software (e.g.,SolidWorks, Revit) is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of construction sites.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

- Managing section and detail views

Skills Required
- Intermediate proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (parametric design, complex part and assembly features, drawing creation)
- Proficient in Autodesk tools including AutoCAD and Autodesk Vault
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical drafting and design
- Strong understanding of mechanical drafting standards and documentation practices
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously (up to four concurrent projects)
- High attention to detail and design accuracy (maintain fewer than two redline iterations on average)
- Effective communication and collaboration with engineering and cross-functional teams
