As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace, you will play a critical role in designing and building factory test solutions for our cutting-edge products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of projects and the delivery of high-quality hardware designs. Your expertise and technical skills will be essential in driving innovation and pushing the boundaries of technology.
You will report to our Engineering Manager, and work out of our Minneapolis, MN location on a hybrid work schedule.
In this role, you will have a direct impact on the development of our factory test equipment and contribute to the success of our Ring Laser Gyro and Inertial Measurement products. Your attention to detail and problem-solving abilities will be crucial in ensuring the quality and reliability of our hardware designs.
Responsibilities• Support design efforts for test equipment for the Factories, including but not limited to fixture design, motion controls, thermal controls, and tolerance analysis.
• Apply technical troubleshooting skills and knowledge to Factory Test Equipment (FTE).
• Analyze hardware failures with assistance from the Hardware Engineering team to pinpoint failure modes.
• Translate troubleshooting solutions into design improvement ideas for the FTE.
• Use Laboratory facilities to test and understand prototypes and actual Factory Test Equipment during engineering development tasks.
• Integration of test solution designs into working systems for the Factory.
• Participate in cost estimates for new design tasks.
• Participate in design reviews during development of Factory Test Equipment projects.
• Interface with vendors and suppliers for BOM development and acquisition of parts for prototyping or build.
• Participate in the build and verification of Factory Test Equipment.
• Generate engineering documents for the FTE – assembly drawings, specifications, etc.
YOU MUST HAVE
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics.
• 2 or more years of experience in mechanical design and documentation.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles and methodologies.
• Proficiency in using design tools and software.
• Experience with hardware testing and validation.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
