Mechanical Design Engineer II - Mechanical Systems (Bearings, Gears, Seals, Lubrication Systems)
As a Mechanical Design Engineer II - Mechanical Systems (Bearings, Gears, Seals, Lubrication Systems) here at Honeywell Aerospace, in the Mechanical Systems group, you will be responsible for the design and analysis of bearings, gears and splines, seals, and lubrications systems for propulsion engines, auxiliary power units and engine gearboxes.
You will report directly to our Engineering Manager and work out of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico location. External hires will work the first 90 days onsite before transitioning to a 3/2 hybrid schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- • Use of state-of-the-art software tools and methods in the support of Technical Excellence Teams to capture and publish analysis practices and guidelines
• Test rig design, operation and data collection and analysis
• Design reviews
• Use of the appropriate documentation practice to meet program deliverables and requirements
• Work effectively with design teams, global support and chief engineers
• Collaborate closely with our Mechanical Systems at the Phoenix Engines site
Travel, up to 15%, may be expected.
QualificationsYou Must Have:
- • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
• 1+ years of FEA experience with ANSYS or similar.
• 1+ years of experience with mechanical systems (Bearings, Gears & splines, Air & oil seals, Lubrication systems, etc.)
• Ability to read, write and speak English fluently

- • Understanding and application of disciplines in high-speed machinery for one or more of these areas: Bearings, Gears & splines, Air & oil seals Lubrication systems and high-speed rotating machinery
• Familiarity with mechanical systems in gas turbine engines
• Experience using advanced numerical simulation codes (for example ANSYS, Romax, etc.)
• 3D modeling (CAD) and FEA (ANSYS, etc.) of gas turbine engine or similar mechanical systems
• Proven understanding and application of solid mechanics, dynamics, fatigue, and finite element analysis
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral) are required to interact with engineering teams, other disciplines, and the customer
• Ability to juggle priorities and competing demands easily and effectively
• Passion for solving challenging problems
• Knowledge of Six Sigma tools and application is a plus
