Responsibilities:
- Preventive Care: Administer vaccinations, conduct routine check-ups, and provide guidance on nutrition, growth, and development.
- Diagnosis and Treatment: Assess, diagnose, and treat illnesses, infections, injuries, and other health conditions in children.
- Developmental Monitoring: Evaluate developmental milestones and identify potential delays or disabilities.
- Management of Chronic Conditions: Oversee long-term care plans for chronic illnesses like asthma, diabetes, or congenital disorders.
- Emergency Care: Provide acute care during medical emergencies.

- Support for Emotional and Behavioural Issues: Counsel families about psychological and emotional challenges, such as ADHD or anxiety.

- Specialist Referrals: Coordinate referrals to paediatric sub specialists, such as paediatric cardiologists or endocrinologists, when necessary.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all patients.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to medical laws, ethical standards, and institutional policies.
- Program Development: Participate in developing community health initiatives or paediatric care programs.
Requirements
- Medical Degree (MD/MBBS): Completion of a recognized medical degree program.
- Postgraduate Training in Paediatrics: Completion of a residency program in paediatrics.
- In some cases, a fellowship in a paediatric sub specialty (e.g., neonatology, paediatric cardiology) may be required for specialized roles.
- Board Certification: Passing a paediatric board exam to become a certified paediatrician (e.g., American Board of Paediatrics, equivalent in other countries).
- Medical License: A valid license to practice medicine in the relevant country or state/province. This typically involves passing a licensing exam (e.g., USMLE in the U.S., PLAB in the UK, or NMC in India).
