Job Responsibilities:
Summary: The Material Production Planner will plan materials and supplies for production to meet customer demand
Job Responsibilities: The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned and required.
Utilize MRP to generate and release forecasts in CMS to purchased materials suppliers Maintain JIT communications with suppliers to meet divisional days on hand goals for raw material Analyze releases to determine production schedules validity through CMS White Board Scheduler Ensure all production material and necessary supplies are on hand as needed Attend and contribute meetings as needed and maintain open intra-departmental communication Monitor and react to planned shipments above and beyond the customer EDI releases (White Board Scheduler) Serve as a backup for EDI Coordinator as needed Verify raw material packing slips with posting of receiving Process vendor returns posting Work with and maintain inventory cycle count discrepancy documentation. Maintain departmental filing system Oversee raw material inventory Support the Production Capacity Planning Manager and Production Manager as required. Assist Logistics Manager with all reporting requirements as needed Work as a team and support/backup other Materials/Production Planner(s) Follows and supports Magna Body & Chassis Iowa's and Magna's operating principles Supports efforts to achieve department and plant goals on Employee Opinion Survey
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Education and/or Experience:
  • Two-year degree in materials management, business management or related field; or equivalent experience of 3 - 5 years
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferred CMS
  • APICS certification preferred but not required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Microsoft office skills with advanced skills in Excel
  • Ability to communicate with others, both verbal and written
  • Able to prepare, read, write and interpret reports, instructions, procedures and business correspondence
  • Able to clearly and effectively respond to questions from management and vendors
  • Knowledge of freight and traffic requirements
  • Ability to problem solve and conduct root cause analysis
  • Good math skills with the ability to perform mathematical calculations
  • Ability to represent the company in a professional manner in all situations
