About the Role
The Materials Planner position requires strong working knowledge of the planning function within Modatek and an in-depth knowledge of Materials Management.
Your Responsibilities
• Monitors and develops suppliers to establish good performance ratings and to ensure continuous improvement practices utilizing the QPF portal for supplier monitoring.• Reviews engineering change timing and progress with suppliers.• Reviews item master, BOM, supplier PO routings in CMS to ensure accuracy of planning parameters.• Reviews supplier releases and monitors exception reports.• Communicating, escalating and engaging in active problem solving with suppliers to avoid delivery gaps due to material, quality or production issues.• Stands in for other Planners to balance workload, provide backup or cover holidays as required.• Practices and promotes continuous improvements of materials processes and seeks cost reduction opportunities.• Reviews and monitors inventory transactions in CMS and initiates inventory adjustments if required.• Utilize the 'Plan for Every Part' to analyze inventory levels and optimize where possible to maximize inventory turns and minimize inventory 'Days On Hand'.• Participate in root cause analysis on inventory discrepancies to maintain inventory accuracy and financial records.• Resolves supply chain constraints to ensure internal and external customers are satisfied.• Continuously monitors MRP results, reviews and transmits releases to suppliers accordingly via EDI.• Supports year end, quarterly, and daily inventory counts to ensure system and financial accuracy• Follows and comply with all Operational Procedures and Policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs (ie. IATF 16949, ISO14001)• Understands, promotes and lives by Magna's philosophies and Employee Charter• Adheres to Modatek's core values; integrity, respect, trust, honesty, fairness and loyalty• Performs other duties as required
Who we are looking for
• Post-secondary education in Materials and Supply Chain Management• Two (2) years' experience in the Production and Material Planning field within a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive with JIT systems• Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP ) Systems CMS Preferred.• Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills• Strong computer skills• Ability to meet deadlines, multiple demands, and support multiple production planning programs.• Ability to uphold confidentiality.• Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team environment.• Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs.
