Job Responsibilities:
Summary: The Area Leader for Material Planning and Logistics at MBCI will supervise the workflow for Shipping and Receiving in the Logistics department across all three shifts, as well as provide support for daily business activities and special projects for material planning
Job Responsibilities: The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned and required.
Coordinate shipping/receiving duties in a safe, quality minded, and productive manner with a sense of urgency to attain shipping and receiving priorities as required Supervise shipping/receiving personnel to keep them focused and on task to meet departmental and divisional objectives Ensure all shipping/receiving employees are utilizing communication tools such as email, CMS, telephonic, and the daily shipping schedules Communicate with affected personnel about shipping/receiving concerns, providing status reports as appropriate Ensure pre-shift safety checklists are being filled out by all shipping/receiving employees Coordinate maintenance of any of the equipment used by the shipping and receiving department Manage the transportation needs of shipping and receiving and set up all dock times Work closely with Production/Material Planners to ensure the shipping/receiving team is meeting all needs of the Logistics Department, to include forecasting for future needs Communicate product/material discrepancies with Production Department and Area Leaders Promote accountability by providing formal and informal performance feedback to associates; conduct formal performance evaluations that are tied to plant and company goals; utilize individual corrective action plans if necessary Develop associates through coaching and mentoring, and provide recognition when warranted Apply consistent and fair progressive discipline to associates when necessary and discuss such action with appropriate personnel Ensure all documentation is maintained, including associate documentation Carry out continuous improvement projects involving the Logistics Department Serve as backup to materials department as needed Verify raw material pack slips with posting of receiving Work with and maintain inventory cycle count discrepancy documentation Assist Material Planning and Logistics Manager with all reporting requirements as needed Attend and contribute meetings as needed and maintain open intra-departmental communication May be required to adjust shifts as necessary Use reasonable means to require all associates to comply with safety policies and rules and enforce through a system of effective accountability that may include progressive discipline Ensure associates have a workplace free from recognized hazards which are or may cause serious physical harm; must comply with Occupational Safety and Health standards applicable to Montezuma Manufacturing Assist in conducting accident/incident investigations and implement corrective action where necessary Support efforts to achieve department and plant goals on Employee Opinion Survey Follow and support Montezuma Manufacturing's and Magna's operating principles and display the company's core values on a regular and consistent basis
Supervisory Responsibilities: Hourly shipping/receiving personnel
Education and/or Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must receive forklift and crane certificate within first six months of starting position
  • Must develop good understanding and knowledge of shipping/receiving processes within first three months of starting position
  • Previous supervisory/leadership experience preferred but not required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must have good organizational skills to attend to multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must be proficient in computer operations
  • Must exhibit high integrity and honesty
  • Knowledge of freight and traffic requirements

  • Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret technical procedures, diagrams, requirements, and business correspondences
  • Ability to effectively and appropriately present information and respond to questions from various groups
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to effectively and courteously communicate with others
