Your role will be crucial in providing end-to-end mass properties expertise by providing accurate analyses and assessments throughout the product lifecycle (including conceptual design, detailed design, and production phases). You'll also be responsible for developing and managing mass properties data through sophisticated databases, reports, and documentation. This work will lay the foundation for crucial decisions related to aircraft loads, performance evaluation, and cost considerations.

Your role will be at the forefront of embracing and implementing code-based methodologies with an automation-centric approach to mass properties calculation, management and integration with other users of the data by;

  • Collaborating to achieve an industry-leading level of integration with other key disciplines (loads, aerodynamics and stability and controls) and their respective toolsets by developing and maintaining code-based interfaces/scripts for efficient data management of inputs and outputs.
  • Providing technical guidance on automation best practices and code-based methodologies, enabling other disciplines to leverage quickly emerging mass properties data more effectively in their analyses and workflows.
  • Leveraging automation in processes surrounding the creation, sharing and iteration of mass properties data to enhance not only the pace of iteration but the accuracy and consistency of the final mass properties deliverables.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree in engineering with experience in Mass Properties or an equivalent combination of technical education and aerospace experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills; can lead a team through solving hard, complex, ambiguous technical problems.
  • Ability to estimate, calculate, and verify mass properties of components and assemblies in support of trade studies and drawing release.
  • Hands-on experience with CATIA or equivalent CAD software for mass properties and distribution analysis.
  • Demonstrated expertise in mass distribution analysis. Ability to estimate, calculate, and verify mass properties of components and assemblies in support of trade studies and drawing release.
  • Highly motivated, adaptable, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

What Will Set You Apart

  • Hands-on experience with at least one aircraft program, guiding it from initial concept all the way through flight and certification, or an equivalent experience that demonstrates your ability to take projects from idea to reality.
  • Experience in database development to manage and analyze mass property data.
  • Skilled in creating and maintaining technical handbooks for both internal teams and customers, ensuring clear and actionable insights at every stage of development.
  • Exposure to FEMAP or other finite element modeling tools for structural analysis.
