We are looking for a Senior Strategic Market Director who will focus on building new warehouse partnerships, driving those partners to proposals on Flexe client projects, and managing our existing network in the greater Los Angeles market. The Senior Strategic Market Director will own and develop a strategic geographic market in support of Flexe client needs for quality flexible fulfillment and logistics. The Director will work to achieve and maintain adequate space and partner count in order to deliver on our “never full” commitment to the Flexe Commercial team. The Director will own all facets of partner success in their assigned market. 

Responsibilities:

  • Market Development:
  • Networking with 3P fulfillment networks to evangelize the Flexe value proposition to potential partners to bring additional capacity online.
  • Identify, categorize, and develop pursuit strategies for warehousing operators within the market. 
  • Management of territory health and capacity levels relative to Flexe sales and growth targets.
  • Execute upon pursuit strategies by approaching, educating about Flexe programs, and onboarding warehouse operating partners to the Flexe network. 
  • Act as market expert informing the organization of any changes in market conditions that would impact company goals or client needs.

  • Facility Audits / Onboarding Sites: 
  • Performing site validation audits to review partner fit for inclusion in the Flexe network, including: security audit, validation of space quality, provider readiness to handle complex fulfillment such as retail compliance, carton picks and medium complexity eCommerce.
  • Manage all activities associated with getting a validated site active on the Flexe network including collection of space information, costing, and confirmation of wifi access.
  • Onboarding responsibilities include: Education on Flexe Programs and use cases, contracting method and commercial model, technology/product functionality, sales engagements, operating and facility requirements, implementation best practices, etc
  • Collect costing information (space and labor) in a standardized way across the market to support Flexe market intelligence. 

  • Market Maintenance: 
  • Monitoring space availability in his or her market(s) monthly to assure capacity to meet future demand.
  • Monitoring provider KPIs regularly to assure assigned sites are performing at or above standard.
  • Performing QBRs with sites. Working with below standard sites on remediation plans to bring performance in line with SLAs.
  • Coordinate with Directors in other markets as needed to manage national and global 3PL networks as assigned. 
  • Develop strong understanding of partner capabilities including; understanding areas of client or vertical expertise, local/regional/national growth strategies and growth goals, organizational structures, optimized engagement paths, and space availability. 

  • Engagement in Support of Deal Flow:
  • Responsibility for representing Flexe’s service offerings on the warehouse partner side of all client sales and growth opportunities. 
  • Partnership with Flexe’s Business Development and Account Management teams on client opportunities, as representative of warehouse network.
  • Deliver on Flexe new client acquisition goals and revenue targets.
  • Provide business development support for Flexe warehouse partners. Specific responsibilities include: 
  • * Assessment of demand side deal placement/matching to Flexe network partner availability and network facility listings.

    * Initial engagement of Flexe warehouse operating partners for opportunity review and assessment of fit.

    * Facilitation of warehouse operator meetings and site visits, both remote and on-site.

    * Ongoing facilitation of operational scope reviews, service level definition, pricing and contract negotiations. 

  • Provide ongoing support to Flexe warehouse operating partners to ensure successful kick-offs through implementation and go-live.
  • Partner with Flexe Logistics Analyst and Account Management teams to facilitate performance reviews, corrective actions and ops escalations as needed.

  • Cross Functional Support:
  • Handling escalations regarding warehouse partners from Operations.
  • Supporting contract negotiations for the Commercial team as needed.
  • Supporting client onboardings as needed for larger, complex projects. 
  • Ongoing education on the features available to warehouse partners within the Flexe platform/systems.
  • Other special projects as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 8+ years experience in Sales, Client Management, Onboarding or Operations in 3rd party logistics business required
  • A deep knowledge of warehouse operations required
  • Ability to credibly interface with warehouse partners on a tactical/operational level and a strategic level
  • Experience in account management including running QBRs, involvement in security and operational audits, and being the voice of the customer
  • Ability to manage long term planning in a strategic market
  • Proficiency in Office, principally Excel and PowerPoint or Google suite principally Sheets and Slides
  • Experience with WMS, ERP and TMS systems required
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with multiple stakeholders internally and externally
  • Able to travel up to 50%
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without restriction. We will not be sponsoring visas for this role at this time
  • This is a fully remote position, based in the Los Angeles market.
