Our fast-growing marketing team is seeking a talented and driven automation specialist to quickly step into a highly impactful role. You are an ideal candidate if you’re a Marketing Cloud-savvy multi-tasker who thrives in fast-paced/ high-growth environments, and you might even geek out a little bit over trends in email automation. You’re a top candidate if you also have a marketing background in demand generation, user acquisition, and experience with Marketing Cloud implementation. We currently utilize Adobe Marketo for our email automation, but welcome anyone with relatable marketing automation experience to apply, particularly if you have experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

You will leverage the tools to automatically drive engagement, re-engagement and even resurrect customers that have dropped off, and be responsible for list segmentation and campaign management. You will work to implement best in class email marketing campaigns to support and drive the Encourage product marketing strategies, goals, and initiatives. This position sits within a small but nimble marketing team and works closely with interdepartmental large project teams across the organization. Success in this role requires an ability to create email journey templates, prioritize requests, continually improve processes, and collaborate across functions.

Role Progression and Impact

  • Within 1 month, you will be actively executing and analyzing the success of existing journeys in Marketo while learning our business, culture, and getting to know your teammates.
  • Within 3 months, you will be actively participating in planning and strategy for marketing automation, adjusting student journeys according to results analysis, and supporting our evolving content plans with new journeys. 
  • Within 6 months, you will have a solid understanding of all journeys for all audiences—from students, to parents, to educators and school districts. You will bring new ideas for more effective segmentation and messaging to continuously improve our engagement and response rates.
  • Within 12 months, you will have played a pivotal role taking Encourage to the next level, ensuring all communications are well segmented and respond to behavioral triggers from our audiences.

A Day in the Life of a Marketing Automation Specialist

  • Build, deploy, and monitor Marketo trigger and batch campaigns with personalization and dynamic content.
  • Segment lists based on behaviors like past email engagement and website interactions. 
  • Manage data feeds and integrations with Salesforce and other technology platforms
  • Own marketing aspects of key CRM & marketing systems (Salesforce, Marketo) used to communicate with students.
  • Responsible for the set up and ongoing maintenance of templates and ensuring distribution lists are segmented and accurate. Test and QA all email deployments regularly.
  • Analyze full marketing funnel metrics including traffic and conversion statistics and engagement trends. 
  • Assist with database cleansing, enrichment, and acquisition initiatives.
  • Drive email best practices and consistency within the team to adhere within CAN-SPAM, CASL, and GDPR Guidelines.
  • Establish, maintain, and improve upon processes for the entire marketing team.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop and improve connected pages in Marketo/Marketing Cloud and ensure congruency throughout the student lifecycle journey.

Skills and experience

  • Bachelor's degree and at least five years of relevant experience; or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 2+ years in digital marketing with an emphasis on email marketing, automation (Marketo and/or Salesforce Marketing Cloud preferred), content strategy and/or relationship marketing and implementation.
  • Commitment to continued education regarding evolution in marketing automation and best practices.
  • Must have experience with HTML and CSS email coding and design. At minimum, experience with modifying templates to create new responsive emails troubleshooting any aesthetic and functional issues.
  • Experience designing and implementing A/B multivariate tests; experience with SMS campaigns.
  • Strong project management skill to handle multiple campaigns under tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with results-orientation and ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities, continuously learn new concepts and innovate.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively share ideas and work with various stakeholders across all company levels, teams, and partners.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with web analytics, social analytics, tag management tools such as Google Analytics and CRM data.
