The Manager, Social Impact & Purpose Initiatives will play a key role in leading an impact and purpose-driven growth strategy including identifying and developing opportunities, initiatives, and stories for Amherst to support and enhance its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) and CSR (Corporate and Social Responsibility) mission and goals. Core to Amherst’s strategy is unlocking new opportunities that positively and sustainably impact the communities we operate. This person brings a data-driven, creative storytelling mindset, passion for ESG and purpose-driven business initiatives, and strategic vision to lead, manage and implement internal and external activations and communications to support the KPI’s and goals of the GRS (Government Relations & Strategy) team. This position will report to the Senior Director of External Affairs and Impact Strategies and work in close partnership with key internal stakeholders including but not limited to Consumer Marketing, Institutional Marketing, Investor Relations, Internal Communications, Human Capital, and The Amherst Foundation to build awareness and strengthen relationships with external stakeholders including investors, housing advocates, local elected officials, and consumers. We are seeking a talented individual who thrives at the intersection of data, product, business development, and scalable programs to create effective awareness and engagement plans.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • This role is tasked with strategically building a meaningful and authentic connection between the organization and key stakeholders, by supporting the Government Relations and Strategy team to develop, define and implement the growth strategy for CSR and ESG practices that align with the broader GRS and Amherst enterprise goals

  • Responsible for developing a sophisticated, impactful and multi-channel story mining and storytelling system that will advance the company’s business, brand and reputation objectives externally 

  • Drive collaboration and execution of the internal and external communication and engagement plan that ensures the organization is creating awareness and accountability for the CSR and ESG related activities across stakeholders, including but not limited to employees, investors, lawmakers, and consumers

A Successful Candidate Will Be Responsible For:

  • This role will be responsible for reshaping, driving and elevating Amherst’s global brand and positioning it as an ESG/CSR/Community-first platform

  • Developing and ensuring alignment of the GRS team mission and strategic initiatives in all internal and external communications

  • Partnering with the Government Relations and Strategy Analyst to identify opportunities to strengthen and amplify ESG and CSR initiatives and analyze the impact of these initiatives

  • Providing operational consultancy to influence and implement ESG positive policies that appropriately reflect Amherst values

  • Partnering closely with the Government Relations & Strategy, Investor Relatons and marketing teams to drive, package, and promote ESG reports, white papers and thought leadership content

  • Partnering with the Sr. Director of GRS to create and drive a strategy to impactfully grow the reach of CARES while helping build its brand to become the industry standard

  • Supporting the VP of Public Engagement on efforts to initiate, structure, negotiate, and maintain strategic partnerships with leading public and private-sector social impact organizations and community leaders

  • Partnering with the VP of Public Engagement to identify and execute strategic event and activation opportunities to support the goals of the GRS team

  • Developing multi-channel communication strategies that leverage email, social media, virtual and in-person events, advertising or any other method of communication or publicity and creating content and communication briefs to collaborate with internal and third-party creative partners

  • Defining SMART KPIs that communicate the value of these efforts

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in real estate, non-profit, social impact, government relations

  • 8-10 years of experience in communications and/or marketing

  • 3-5 years of experience executing marketing campaigns and working with agency/vendor teams

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience writing content for web, social media, and presentations

  • Thrives in a collaborative environment and is willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done

  • Experience in working cross-functionally and managing multiple stakeholders

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and function effectively in highly dynamic environments

  • Strong project management and organizational skills

  • Interest in and passion for the role that businesses can play in Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience writing scripts, storyboarding, and creating video content

  • Experience with data analytics
