Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience building measurement frameworks for communications.
  • Experience in data analytics as it relates to Communications measurements (i.e., SQL, Macros, and Data Analytics).
  • Experience in people management.



Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working on and owning complex measurement projects.
  • Experience in building measurement frameworks for communications, journalism, or media objectives.
  • Experience or familiarity with social listening/media analytics tools (e.g., Brandwatch, Crimson Hexagon, BuzzSumo, Trendkite).
  • Ability to stay current with the latest communications, measurement, and industry trends, take initiative, and use qualitative/quantitative analysis.
  • Ability to think, plan, and execute on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.



About the job

As a member of the Global Communications & Public Affairs team, you will work cross-functionally to help communicate with journalists and other thought leaders; devise specific communications materials and campaigns; engage in face-to-face meetings with commentators and other opinion formers; and develop print and web-based material supporting these campaigns. We're looking for great communicators who can understand complex issues and explain them in person and also via well written, simple blog posts, FAQs, video scripts and more.

We're working to bring better data and analytical excellence to Google's communications efforts. You will work across the communications team to develop ways of measuring the media landscape, press coverage, social media, and official Google channels.

You will manage a team focused on evolving our measurement program, developing methodologies, assisting team members with one-off or ongoing measurement and data projects, and managing any external vendors/partners. In addition to compiling data, you will need to extract meaningful insights that can help shape the team's communications strategy. You will create dashboards and tools that the team can use.

Responsibilities

  • Inform on our communication strategies and lead ongoing measurement projects and analyses to gauge and monitor trends.
  • Implement performance measures and metrics for short-term and long-term communications efforts and co-ordinate the reporting and analysis work across the communications organization.
  • Lead in creation of methodologies measuring the impact of earned media across lines of business.
  • Manage, mentor, and guide team members on best practices while evolving methodology and reporting.
  • Partner with external and internal stakeholders to implement best measurement practices across social media and traditional media.
