About the Team
Opendoor is seeking a Communications Manager to join our local and consumer communications team. This person will play a critical role in bringing Opendoor’s story to life across markets, helping Opendoor educate consumers, promote our leadership and support our ambitious growth. We are seeking a teammate who can bring bright and creative ideas to the table, develop and manage local and consumer communications programs, and drive press and brand awareness.
Role Responsibilities
- Develop and drive communications programs in new and existing Opendoor markets.
- Regularly develop story ideas and angles and identify relevant outlets and journalists to communicate with.
- Amplify Opendoor coverage through strong relationships with local reporters and influencers.
- Develop thoughtful, well-written communications assets (blog posts, press releases, bylines, etc.).
- Regularly spot local trends and monitor for emerging or active issues relevant to Opendoor.
- Maintain knowledge of the residential real estate industry, housing markets and other core areas of relevance.
- Coach and prepare regional General Managers and other key spokespeople for press meetings and speaking events.
- Measure and report program results and business impact.
- Work with our PR agency to coordinate communications efforts.
Skills Needed
- A Bachelor’s degree and minimum 5+ years of communications experience in-house or in an agency
- An ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Strong follow-through and are a results-oriented self-starter
- Creativity, curiosity and motivation
- Strong local media relationships and ability to convert relationships into coverage
- Excellent written communication skills and the ability to turn complex messages into press-friendly language

- Real estate experience a plus
