The role and team


Are you a passionate Senior SEO specialist in Mexico, who loves to think big and scale growth? If so, this is the perfect role for you! 


With over five million clicks from organic search in the past year, canva.com/es_mx is our second-largest locale in terms of traffic. We’re looking for a talented SEO expert to own SEO strategy from ideation to execution, managing a small team composed of an outreach specialist and an SEO copywriter.


Reporting to the International SEO Lead based in Sydney, you will work alongside a world-class global team of SEOs, all playing a crucial role in helping Canva to achieve our ‘Crazy Big Goals’.


You’ll thrive and adapt in a fast-paced environment and be confident in making decisions backed by data and experience. You have a talent for problem-solving, identifying new opportunities and continuous process improvements.

What you'll do

  • You will be responsible for owning all aspects of SEO growth in Mexico;
  • Further developing the outreach strategy to find new and innovative ways to acquire high-quality links to the es_mx site, and manage the SEO outreacher to deliver the outreach strategy
  • Building upon the SEO content strategy for Mexico by continuing to identify new sources of relevant and qualified traffic
  • Manage the SEO copywriter to produce high-quality SEO-driven content for the es_mx website
  • Identifying opportunities to improve the performance of existing pages to drive more organic traffic
  • Monitoring the website for technical SEO issues, and working with the technical SEO team to define and implement fixes
  • Set clear content SEO goals, KPIs and requirements to define and measure what success looks like
  • Scale and improve existing workflows and processes, with a focus on automation and efficiency

What we're looking for:

  • You are a native Mexican Spanish speaker with professional-level English
  • 3+ years of experience in an SEO role at a global company, with experience of leading SEO projects that deliver demonstrable results
  • You're a natural leader and communicator, with strong experience managing projects through to delivery
  • You're a well-rounded SEO that is comfortable working in cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
  • You have strong analytical skills and are comfortable using data to guide your decision making
  • You have deep knowledge in all aspects of content-driven SEO\
  • You are comfortable with documentation to define SEO strategies and technical SEO requirements
  • Hands-on experience with SEO and web analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Mode, Looker, Search Console, SEMRush, Ahrefs, Dragon Metrics, Screamingfrog and Deepcrawl
