Location

This position can be based out of one of Kiewit's offices in Omaha Nebraska, Lenexa Kansas, Houston Texas or Phoenix Arizona.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external partners to help achieve shared goals
  • Help plan, design, develop, document and deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Make a difference at a great company with a really long track record of success (yes, we've been building important things for nearly 140 years)
  • Work for the Digital Media manager on Kiewit's Corporate Communication team (the folks that do PR, employee communications, marketing communications, branding and stuff), so you'll always be thinking about how technology can get information to the right people at the right time in the right ways
  • Bring rock-solid web development ideas and expertise to deliver websites and related communication technology tools and solutions for the company
  • Have a passion for writing clean code that's cross-browser compatible and on brand
  • Help design and develop web sites that showcase our brand and all the great things that come with it
  • Help design and develop mobile apps that connect our companies and projects to a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Make sure websites are up-to-date and always improving
  • Have fun at the office and with your co-workers



Qualifications

  • BS degree in communication, computer science, MIS, computer graphics, graphic design, web design or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2 or more years experience with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS required, SASS is a plus. Ideally, 2 years experience with Front End Development Tools, like Angular and Ionic Framework
  • Experience creating and modifying custom WordPress themes/plugins and familiarity with PHP and fundamentals of MySQL and relational databases
  • Passion for responsive web design and development and a corresponding track record for delivering high quality work that meets your clients' needs
  • Familiarity with and/or strong interest in capably learning mobile app design and development through modern front-end frameworks
  • The ability to walk the talk in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and/or Visual Studio Code
  • A legitimate interest and/or some useful experience in graphic design and/or UI/UX design
  • A career-focused mindset that is all about learning, growing, improving and adapting to the latest trends
  • Deadline oriented with ability to deliver results, instead of spinning your wheels all day
  • A portfolio or online repository of previous work examples to show us how dynamic you are



The ideal skillset includes:

  • Experience with NPM, NodeJS, and command-line interfaces.
  • Experience with SEO/SEM best practices preferred.
  • Experience with Google Analytics and web reporting best practices preferred.
  • Familiarity with RESTful web services, API integrations and JSON formatted data is preferred
  • Familiarity with Git commands and version control.
