The Books Marketing Manager has two primary responsibilities:

  1. Execute strategic marketing plans for over 40 new academic, scholarly, and trade nonfiction titles each year.
  2. Maximize Amazon revenue through platform optimization.



Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 5+ years marketing/brand management experience in academic, scholarly, and/or trade nonfiction book publishing required



Preferred:

  • Amazon platform expertise.
  • Digital advertising, including Google and social media
  • Working knowledge of Firebrand/ONIX or equivalent title management software.
  • Familiarity with Edelweiss Plus.
  • Strong copywriting and copyediting skills.
  • Comfortable presenting to a variety of audiences both in-person and online
  • Experience managing and tracking marketing and promotional analytics and effectiveness.
  • Comfortable working on a team.



Computer Skills:

  • Amazon platforms, including Vendor and Seller Central, and problem solving site issues
  • Preferred technical experience with ONIX/Firebrand, Edelweiss Plus, Wrike.
  • Advanced user of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Some knowledge of design programs such as InDesign and Canva is useful



Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Firebrand/ONIX feeds that link all of APA's bibliographic data to external services. Update the fees as needed and troubleshoot issues.
  • Develop and execute course adoption, online advertising, webinars, and other campaigns.
  • Develop and execute the strategies and tactics for generating sales each fiscal quarter, including key programs and events with measurements and goals.
  • Measure and fine-tune marketing programs to ensure alignment with APA goals.
  • Thought Leadership: create and deliver thoughtful information, reinforcing APA's reputation for trustworthiness and excellence, to influence book buyers. Focus collateral and content marketing for key personas and specific steps of the buying process.
  • Utilize social media to engage our target audience and build product awareness.
  • Provide product and market expertise for events such as conferences and webinars.
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing operations team to execute targeted campaigns, to develop creative, impactful collateral, and to attend conferences that will help us achieve our strategic goals.
  • Work closely with the editorial and communications teams, among others.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
