Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for a Director, Creative Tech Operations to join our in-house Creative & Studio Operations department and work side-by-side with passionate pet lovers. You'll be responsible for leading the team of technical operations managers and system admins for Creative Services. The work will range from leading and mobilizing team members responsible for architecting, engineering, developing, and implementing new and existing technologies for Chewy’s Creative and Studios Production teams, to fostering close partnerships across the corporate organization to enhance implementation and integration processes.

What you'll do:

  • Architect and Engineer Chewy’s Marketing Technology roadmap for go-to-market readiness including:
    • Creative and Production Execution, Media and Asset Management, Campaign and Communication Planning, and Effectiveness and Analytics, such as creative in-market performance
    • Lead teams in systems architecture, engineering, development, integration, continuous improvement, and maintenance for AEM DAM (on-premises), MAM (on-premises/Cloud hybrid), WorkFront, Creative Force, Cross Cap
    • Integrate and streamline Marketing processes, increase content and data quality, accuracy, and discover- and search-ability
    • Author 2-3 year tech roadmap to support Campaign Planning, Asset Management, and Creative Execution
    • Recruit, train, mentor, and lead, full-stack product and engineering teams to deliver measurable outcomes for the business
  • Provide strong leadership in the growth and development of team leaders and individual contributors. Direct reports currently include Associate Director, Media Content Services and Associate Director, Creative Tech Ops
  • Lead Creative Studios MarTech team responsible for system administration, front-end and back-end development of all Creative Services and Studio applications, hardware, software, and systems. Provide strategic guidance on project pivots, pending needs, or blockers.
  • System Administrator of Chewy Creative Services Adobe Experience Manager, Digital Asset Management (DAM); Creative Force, Production Management Software (PMS), TBD, Media Asset Management (MAM), Cross Cap, Campaign Planning Software (CPS); Adobe WorkFront, Work Management Software and all other peripheral software in the Creative Studios Production Ecosystem.
  • Develop and foster strong partnerships across the corporate organization (Marketing Tech team, IT Systems, Networking/Infrastructure, Site Support/Service Desk, IAM, ITOC, Security, Procurement, and Engineering teams) to enhance and optimize tech implementation and integration processes.
  • Analyze work demands and workforce supply to ensure the team is operating at full capacity and maintaining appropriate velocity on initiatives.
  • Establish data analyst vertical and support them in gathering, analyzing, and reporting on metrics to roll up into Creative Services KPIs, as well as Tech Ops team utilization data for efficiency & cost-benefit assessments across all initiative types.
  • Review and approve project and technical execution, process documentation, and training materials as applicable. Partner with team members throughout the organization to ensure user adoption and clarity.
  • Responsible for managing the department budget in partnership with leadership, Studio Operations, Procurement, and Finance. Additionally, responsible for writing, reviewing, and approving whitepapers using a data-driven practice to contextually denote ROI of spend, resource allocation, and development work.
  • Responsible for forecasting departmental resource needs, hiring full-time or freelance team members, and onboarding new talent.
  • Strategically plan goals for the Technical Operations department, in alignment with greater Creative Services and Marketing goals, and foster growth and structure for all team members to achieve those goals.

What you'll need:

  • 10+ years of experience leading a MarTech team within a Marketing and/or Creative Services or Studio Production environment. E-Commerce/Retail experience a plus!
  • Technical expertise and comprehensive understanding to build strategic product roadmaps for Studio and Creative Services use cases and systems:
    • On-premises servers and cloud-based storage and collaboration platforms (Dropbox, SharePoint, OneDrive, Frame.io, Isilon server)
    • Media/Digital Asset Management Systems and Asset Workflow Tools (AEM DAM, MAM, Vantage, PCoIP technologies)
    • Creative software (Adobe Creative Cloud, Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, Media Encoder, Davinci Resolve, Capture One, Cinema 4D, Arnold, Avid Pro-Tools, Universal Type Server/Client)
    • Reporting and workflow management (Workfront, Production Management systems or Inventory Management systems, Tableau, Jira, Confluence)
  • Experience with end-to-end workflows for video, photo, and design content creation, including post-production, broadcast, web, and print
  • Experience managing a team both within an agile framework/scrum-style projects and waterfall
  • Contextual understanding of video, photo, and design file types, codecs, and use cases
  • Ability to influence or lead cross-functional teams to drive tasks and projects to successful completion and adoption
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with various types of teams and leadership – able to flex between creative and technical vernacular with ease
  • Ability to flex between a detail-oriented tactical mindset and creatively thinking big to drive bold visions to streamline, optimize, and automate our tech stack
  • Proven ability to both self-manage, and mobilize teams to manage multiple initiatives
  • Thrive in an ever-developing, fast-paced environment - happy to be flexible and pivot on a dime! Able to promote a culture of positivity and flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities or pivots based on project requirements and changes in scope
  • Able to think critically and strategically about ambiguous problems, and, based on job-specific knowledge and experience, quickly make decisions, openly communicate directives, and facilitate pivots with cross-functional teams
  • Strong people leader, mentor, and invested in the growth and development of direct and dotted line reports
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, time management, and communication skills
  • A positive, can-do attitude and active listener
  • Position may require travel
