About the role:

Destination Canada is looking for Marketing Specialist, North America to join our Vancouver team as we inspire travellers to explore Canada.

As Marketing Specialist reporting directly to the Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for leading a range of projects that support our North America team and executing consumer direct campaigns. With your extensive experience in marketing, stakeholder communication, and project management, you will effortlessly drive the advancement of Destination Canada's markets in line with the in-market strategy.

Your excellent communication and organizational skills will come in handy as you collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the smooth execution of campaigns and projects.

Key accountabilities
  • Under the guidance of the Manager, the position is responsible for project managing the development, implementation and evaluation of international integrated, marketing campaigns, liaising with internal departments and external teams.
  • Ensures Destination Canada’s marketing approach meets the needs of the market key target audiences in terms of the right timing and the right content, backed by the right experiences and product offers.
  • Assist in managing stakeholder relationships, acting as the liaison between industry partners, external service providers and internal teams.
  • Assists in new process development and implementation internally and with agencies of record.
  • Assists in the management of consumer campaigns, which includes managing the deliverables of the agencies of record.
  • Completes project management documentation and establishes processes and briefs to successfully realize the marketing plans.
  • Supports the Partnership team in consulting with stakeholders to assist in the implementation of the partnership model.
  • Assists with the coordination of key trade and consumer events.
  • Assists the Manager in the development of integrated trade, media and marketing strategies and plans by providing insights, obtaining the input of partners and other stakeholders.
  • Maintains data and activities into the project tracking systems.
  • Creates industry partner communications, statuses, briefing notes, presentations and performance reports.
  • Works with internal teams and agencies to identify, mitigate and resolve issues related to partner integration and co-investment delivery
  • Support the manager to track and manage the market budget.
What you need
  • Degree from a recognized university in marketing, communications or business administration, or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management and managing complex projects.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in delivering marketing campaigns to consumers and/or travel trade.
  • Exceptional collaboration and interpersonal skills, often working under pressure
  • Excellent ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to identify risk and how to tactfully escalate.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong partnerships within the industry.
  • Ability to assign targets, track results, and determine ROI.
It would be great if you also had
  • Experience in the tourism industry is an asset.
  • Experience working with strategic marketing and paid media agencies is an asset
  • Experience working with international markets is an asset.
Compensation

Salary range: $72,177 - $90,221

Within the range, the base pay offered is determined by multiple factors, including job-related skills and relevant education/experience. Please note starting salaries for new hires typically fall between the minimum and mid-point of the range, to support internal equity and allow room for progression as employees grow and excel in their roles. The range above reflects base pay only and does not include the competitive at-risk pay program and benefits that we offer!

  • This role follows a hybrid work arrangement, where work is performed onsite at least 2-3 days per week. Please note the work arrangement is subject to change.
