Overview of the role
As a member of the Insights Strategy and Growth team at Target, you will expand efforts to collaborate with guests (consumers) and help shape the ideal guest experience and drive strategic conversations. You will play a key role in bridging the gap between business and guests through research by collaborating with multiple stakeholders/ leaders including other insights specialists, category managers, marketing teams, creative teams and merchandisers.
You will be expected to support and execute research plans and keep the guest at the forefront of the process and evangelize the value of multi-faceted approach to research. Target leverages both qualitative and quantitative techniques and various secondary and proprietary sources of data to conduct research studies
As an advocate for the consumers, you’ll be expected to frame findings into compelling insights and stories to establish guest understanding and empathy on the team and drive effective business changes. Your work will have to include actionable recommendations for teams to then run with and achieve desired business goals for the organization.
As a Researcher - Insights & Strategy, you will report to the Sr. Manager, Insights & Strategy
Responsibilities
· Contribute to identifying best method or mix of methods for the research plan, timeline, and resourcing.
· Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and develop research plan based on analysis of knowledge gaps, project goals and risks.
· Assist in consumer research and report findings.
· Help perform thorough qualitative/quantitative analysis to create meaningful insights and actionable recommendations.
· Work on an iterative approach through close alignment with insight project lead, and business teams to influence the strategy of the project.

· Highly curious. Proactively seeks to understand the competitive landscape, Target guests, and consumers (behavior, response, mindset, needs, opportunities, and lifestyle)
· Ability to clearly articulate the business problem/opportunity, builds hypothesis-driven frameworks, scopes projects, and select the method best suited given business need and constraints (e.g., budget, time, trade-offs)
· Translate insights or research studies into succinct and logical insights narratives; and, communicates in clear, compelling and actionable ways.
· Partner with cross-functional teams and peers to develop strategies and plans that build on insights and uses measurement/learning plans to drive deeper understanding about Target guest
· Have a broad research and insights toolkit and knows when to lever different methods or capabilities
· Basic knowledge of quantitative data analysis and statistics from a business perspective.
· Contribute to analysing performance reports for campaigns and marketing initiatives
· Manage ambiguity, work autonomously, meet deadlines and multi-task in an agile environment.
· Successfully build and manage internal and/or external vendor relationships to maximize outcomes for Target
Preferred background (one or more of these)
· Minimum of 3 years of Research experience
· Participated in conducting field research, preparing survey design, generating, analysing primary data to arrive at insights, and distilling information from syndicated sources
· Exposure to marketing, media, and/or advertising domain (in academic/professional experience)
· Retail/E-commerce experience
· Four-year degree
