We are currently hiring a Field Marketing Representative to promote our brand across the United States!

This is a full-time position working out of our Champaign, IL location. Working hours are Wednesday-Sunday 8am-5pm with Monday and Tuesday as scheduled days off. This role will involve extensive travel within the Midwest and East Coast regions.

Typical pay for this position is $40,000-$50,000. The final offer for this position will be based on the unique experience and qualifications of the candidate selected. This position may also be eligible for a bonus not included in the base pay range.

Horizon Hobby is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Field Marketing Representative to bring our brand directly to customers across the United States. This role will involve extensive travel (approximately 90%), engaging customers at our retail partners and at various events, primarily within the Midwest and East Coast regions. You’ll play a vital role in enhancing Horizon Hobby’s brand presence and sales through face-to-face interactions and engaging event setups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Event Representation: Serve as the face of Horizon Hobby at retail partner locations and various large events, engaging with customers, showcasing products, and driving sales
  • Product Demonstrations and Try-Me Activities: Conduct hands-on product demos and interactive “try-me” activities, allowing customers to experience Horizon Hobby products firsthand, creating memorable and engaging experiences
  • Mobile Operations: Safely operate a XL Series Transit Van and occasionally a 2500 series pickup truck towing a 20+ ft trailer, ensuring timely setup, teardown, and transportation of marketing materials and products
  • Customer Engagement: Create a positive and memorable experience for customers, delivering product demonstrations, answering questions, and generating excitement around Horizon Hobby's offerings
  • Logistics and Setup: Load, unload, and set up booths, demo areas, and displays independently; requires lifting of up to 60 pounds
  • Sales and Marketing Support: Work closely with Horizon Hobby’s marketing and wholesale sales team to execute event-specific promotions and support the overall field marketing strategy
  • Report and Feedback: Provide feedback from events to the marketing and sales teams to inform future event strategies and improve the customer experience.

This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, love travel, and enjoy direct customer interaction. Candidates must be comfortable with long-distance driving and ready for a schedule that includes weekend work and lots of autonomy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for formal education
  • Customer Engagement Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with a natural ability to connect with customers and create engaging experiences
  • Event and/or Marketing Experience: Previous experience in marketing, events, retail, or customer service is a plus, especially with hands-on product demos or sales
  • Driving and Physical Requirements: Comfortable operating a XL Transit Van or 2500 series pickup truck and towing a 20+ ft trailer. Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record and the ability to lift 60+ pounds for booth and product setup
  • Adaptability and Independence: Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently while managing multiple tasks on the road
  • Travel-Readiness: Willing and able to travel extensively (up to 90%) and work weekends, particularly from late February through November
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Quick thinking and resourceful, with the ability to address challenges on the spot and adapt in a dynamic environment.

Physical Requirements 

  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move items up to 60 pounds, including booth materials, products, and other event equipment
  • Comfortable with long-distance driving of an XL Transit Van or 2500 series pickup truck and towing a 20+ ft trailer across various road and weather conditions
  • Extended periods of standing, walking, and active engagement with customers during events
  • Requires bending, stooping, and handling of event materials during booth setup, product demonstrations, and teardown
  •  Ability to work in various weather conditions, as events may be held outdoors
