About The Role
We’re looking for a contract Marketing Manager to join our fast-paced media team for 15 to 21 months. Reporting to the Senior Director, Marketing and collaborating closely with the Brand Leader and VP of Content, you’ll play a key role in executing integrated marketing campaigns that support a leading media brand and global member community in the consumer goods and retail sector.
Thousands of consumer product marketing executives and brand managers turn to the Path to Purchase Institute (P2PI) as the go-to source for commerce marketing intelligence and trusted industry connections. This is a great opportunity to sharpen your marketing skills in a collaborative, hands-on environment that values innovation and growth. You’ll contribute to driving audience engagement and advertising opportunities for P2PI and their membership community, along with their associated events and awards programs. Ideal candidates bring strong copywriting abilities, fundamentals of email and social campaigns, a good eye for design, and a passion for delivering high-quality, results-driven marketing. Extra points if you have experience with a membership organization!
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the marketing strategy and execution for the Path to Purchase Institute media and events, to ensure fulfillment of sales, membership, brand, and event marketing objectives via a variety of marketing channels.
- Manage the Marketing Coordinator and closely partner with the Designer and Event Recruitment Specialist for marketing execution support of campaigns, initiatives and events.
- Sales Marketing: Strategize and execute campaigns to drive awareness, create demand, and nurture interest among customers, members, sponsors, and prospects—ultimately generating qualified leads to boost the sales pipeline. Liaison with the sales team to identify promotional needs and clarify key messaging.
- Membership Marketing: Develop and manage year-round campaigns focused on membership growth and retention, collaborating closely with the membership team to hit acquisition targets.
- Event & Award Marketing: Drive interest, registrations, attendance, nominations, and sponsorship leads across multiple US & Canadian B2B events and awards in the commerce marketing industry. This role may involve maintaining the event website and providing registration support to attendees occasionally, working closely with the brand team and with Event Operations.
- Brand Marketing: Elevate P2PI’s industry presence by leading an overarching marketing strategy that effectively communicates the value proposition of the brand and membership. Execute multi-channel campaigns (including email, programmatic, and social media) and liaise with the Brand Leader and VP of Content to align marketing with Editorial and Sales.
Position Requirements
- 5+ years of B2B marketing experience, including sales marketing, and event/webinar experience with retail and CPG markets preferred. Experience with membership marketing is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or equivalent experience
- 5% business travel to events, as required
- Technical Proficiency
- Copywriting: Strong marketing copywriting skills with attention to detail. Writing marketing emails, social posts, and sales collateral.
- Design: A good eye for design and the ability to create visually engaging content.

- Design Tool: Experience with Canva or Adobe Suite (or similar) is required.
- Proficiency in marketing platforms like Stripo, Hootsuite or Buffer, Swoogo, LinkedIn Ads, and Google Ads (or similar) is required.
- Soft Skills
- Curious & Creative: You like to learn new things, delve into problems, and recommend & test solutions. Ability to take articulated ideas and turn them into tangible marketing assets and products.
- Process-driven & Organized: High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple competing deadlines at a time. Excellent prioritization and organizational skills are required.
- Collaborative & Good Communicator: You like to work with people. Clear and effective communication, both written and verbal, is a must.
