Position Overview

St. Vincent de Paul Dayton seeks a creative and mission-driven Marketing & Communications Coordinator to help gather and [SJ1] share the stories of hope, dignity, and personal encounter at the heart of our work.

This role supports our mission by bringing to life the impact of serving our neighbors in need and inviting the broader community to participate—as donors, volunteers, and advocates—in this charitable work.

More than a marketing role, this position is an opportunity to help communicate the Gospel through action, highlighting the transformative power of compassion and accompaniment.

This is a part-time position with the potential to grow as our outreach and development efforts expand.


Qualifications

Responsibilities

  1. Social Media Engagement & Community Building (Primary Focus)
  • Manage and grow St. Vincent de Paul Dayton’s social media presence
  • Monitor messages and comments, responding in a timely and mission-aligned manner
  • Foster and build relationships with supporters, volunteers, and partners
  • Identify opportunities to highlight moments of service, gratitude, and impact

 

  1. Event Promotion & Content Capture
  • Promote key events, campaigns, and seasonal initiatives (e.g., Christmas outreach, giving campaigns)
  • Attend select events to capture photos, stories, and testimonials
  • Foster relationships with staff and volunteers to increase participation and visibility

 

  1. Digital Communications Support
  • Assist with email newsletters, appeals, and campaign messaging
  • Help maintain and update website content
  • Support integration of messaging across platforms to ensure consistency

 

  1. Mission Storytelling
  • Create compelling written, visual, and video content for digital platforms
  • Capture and share stories that reflect the dignity of those we serve and the impact of our programs 
  • Interview staff, volunteers, Vincentians, and neighbors served to gather authentic narratives 
  • Ensure all messaging reflects the values of respect, compassion, and hope central to St. Vincent de Paul 

 

Desired Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or related field
  • Strong writing and storytelling ability
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and basic analytics
  • Ability to engage sensitive topics with discretion, respect, and dignity
  • Organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects
  • Passion for serving others and alignment with the mission of St. Vincent de Paul

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in nonprofit or ministry communications
  • Basic graphic design and/or video editing skills
  • Familiarity with email marketing tools (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc.)

An essential part of our community’s safety net for our neighbors who experience homelessness and poverty, St. Vincent de Paul provides emergency shelter, supportive housing, supportive services for veteran families, and personal assistance through our neighborhood ministries. We accompany our neighbors with compassionate support to help them find and maintain stability in their lives so they may flourish and thrive.
