JOB PURPOSE

The Marketing and Product Manager is responsible for overseeing marketing activities and expand our offerings  of the company. He/she will understand the business objectives and develop product offerings and a marketing strategy and plans  utilising the market analyst of the product lifecycle of the product offerings and target audience.

The person should be  experienced, and a confident leader so can work with a diverse team locally and regionally. He/she develops forecasts and  strategies to achieve marketing and product profitability. 

This position has the responsibility of driving business development and oversee that strategies are in place to increase brand  visibility, internal and external share of voice, and generate leads.

This role will require strong organisational and collaborative  skills; to be proactive and ‘hands -on’ and take the lead in a high-pressure ‘FinTech Start-up’ and fast-paced environment; and  

develop and promote an organisational culture that supports and demonstrates the the company values, mission, and vision. In addition, this  role requires a strategic thinker with strong project management skills. To develop project roadmaps and ensure project  milestones are achieved within the agreed timeline and budget. 



MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES 

  • Develop comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with the bank's goals and objectives to increase brand awareness,  acquire new customers, and promote products and services.
  • Conduct market research to identify customer needs, preferences, and trends in the microfinance sector. Analyse market  data to identify opportunities for growth and develop targeted marketing campaigns. 
  • Plan and execute marketing campaigns to promote the bank's products. Develop marketing materials such as brochures,  flyers, and advertisements to support promotional activities. 
  • Oversee digital marketing initiatives, including website management, social media marketing, email marketing, and search  engine optimization (SEO), to enhance the bank's online presence and reach target audiences effectively. 
  • Manage the bank's brand identity and ensure consistency across all marketing channels and communication materials.  Develop branding guidelines and monitor brand perception to maintain a positive brand image in the market. 
  • Monitor and analyse the performance of marketing campaigns, including key metrics such as customer acquisition,  conversion rates, and return on investment (ROI). Use data insights to optimize marketing strategies and improve  campaign effectiveness. 
  • Develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to achieve marketing  objectives within budgetary constraints. 


Product: 

  • Drive the product- and business-planning processes for cross-functional teams. 
  • Analyses customer needs, current market trends, and potential partnerships from an ROI and build-vs.-buy perspective. 
  • Assess current competitor offerings and seek opportunities for differentiation. 
  • analyse product requirements and develop appropriate programs to ensure they’re met. 
  • Develop, implement, and maintain production timelines across multiple departments. 
  • Appraise new product ideas and strategize appropriate go-to-market plans. 


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Comply with the provisions of the Bank of Uganda and all governing bodies and comply with company policies and  procedures. 
  • Live company’s core Principles and work proactively in a customer-related way in accordance with adopted procedures  and best practices. 
  • Work co-operatively with colleagues and external stakeholders to promote the company’s overall business objectives. 
  • Ensure that confidentiality is respected and always maintained. 
  • Drive the execution of all processes in the product lifecycle, including product and market research, competitor analysis,  planning, positioning, requirements and roadmap development, and product launch. 
  • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements for prototyping and final development by engineering teams. 
  • Create product strategy documents that describe business cases, high-level use cases, technical requirements, revenue,  and ROI. 
  • Analyse market data to develop sales strategies and define product objectives for effective marketing communications. 
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, production, marketing, and sales teams in the development, QA, and  release of products, and balance resources to ensure success for the entire organization. 
  • Develop product positioning and messaging that differentiates [Company X] across primary market segments. 
  • Perform any ad-hoc duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

Education:

  • University degree with a Sales and/or Marketing concentration. 
  • MBA in Business development, Sales and/or Marketing. 
  • A deep experience in FMCG or in a B2C company.


Work experience: 

  • 8+ years’ experience. 
  • 5+ years leading teams with high track record.


Computer skills: 

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office 


Language: 

  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Swahili


FUNCTIONAL SKILLS 

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Developing and implementing marketing & business strategies.
  • Confident at interpreting complex data and drawing out insights for business growth and optimization.
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods (sales trends, market trends, budget)
  • Strong influencing & negotiating skills.

Other requirements 

  • Able to work in a in high-pressure ‘FinTech Startup’ environment.  
  •  Able to work out of hours during any emergency or critical incident. 
  • Able to travel locally and internationally as and when required.


Skills Required

  • University degree with a Sales and/or Marketing concentration
