The Role

Do you enjoy challenging the status quo?  Are you great at driving change to process and working cross functionally?  We are looking for someone who has a strategic outlook and who can influence others to help shift the way things are done.

Many of the teams, channels and functions within Skyscanner are set up globally to generate scale and speed-to-market.  This helps fuel our growth globally, however there are times when a more local approach is required.  We are looking for someone to join our team on a 12-month basis to develop and implement new ways of doing things, to support our Geo Growth ambitions.  This role will work closely with the Director of Geo Growth and stakeholders from around the business to identify, design and implement new processes and ways of working, to ensure that market nuances are understood and reflected where appropriate.  This is an exciting role with the opportunity to drive significant change.

We are looking for someone who has a commercial and practical approach, who can create compelling business cases for change and who can influence and work through others to drive meaningful action.  The successful applicant will need to work with leads across marketing, analytics, commercial and product.  They will work closely with the regional leads from the Geo team to ensure needs of the markets are represented and be the interface for that group into product for cross-regional initiatives.  Experience of working with product teams is therefore an advantage.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Geo Growth market experts to understand nuances and insights that will impact how global initiatives may be executed locally.
  • Create guidelines to help the business identify and align on when a local approach is needed and when a global approach is appropriate.
  • Identify global initiatives that could benefit from local execution and create framework for prioritisation.
  • Define and recommend approaches for local execution, gaining buy-in from stakeholders.
  • Identify blockers for implementation e.g. resource constraints and create mitigation plans as appropriate.
  • Manage the implementation of new processes and initiatives to close current localisation gaps and ensure future rollouts of global initiatives are fit for local market needs, providing appropriate governance and business updates.
  • Work with the analytics team to define testing and evaluation processes to ensure approaches deliver desired outcomes.
  • Be the owner of cross-regional initiatives within the Geo Growth team.  Provide the wider team with regular updates and ensure their buy-in throughout.

Skills needed:

  • Great communication skills.  Be able to communicate clearly at all levels of the organisation from preparing clear summary slides for the exec, to detailed business cases for stakeholders.
  • Experienced in dealing with ambiguity.  This is a new role so there is a lot of opportunity for fresh, creative thinking, but also a lot to define.  The successful candidate will need to demonstrate they can thrive in a less-defined and matrixed set-up.  They should also be able to show that they can bring structure to ambiguous challenges.
  • A commercial mindset.  Needs to show the value of doing things differently, providing solid data-driven business cases and evaluation frameworks.
  • Ability to execute through others.  The end delivery of any of the initiatives will be through other teams across marketing, commercial and product.  The successful candidate will need to demonstrate that they can effectively deliver work via others in a way that is collaborative and considerate of others’ priorities.

Experience required:

  • Has operated in a global business.  Needs to have experience of a working in a global role across multiple markets, regions, offices and time zones.
  • A background in Marketing with a strong consumer mindset.
  • Demonstrable understanding of strategic levers that influence market growth.
  • Due to the high level of interaction with the product team, experience of working in or with product teams is highly desirable.
