Summary:

The Market Manager directs the operations of a full-service retail location, and sets the standard for a positive branch environment and excellent Member service consistent with the Pillars of Alabama ONE by providing effective leadership and coaching to the branch team while managing the daily operations of the branch. Market Managers assign and direct the work of the retail and platform team; ensure effective communication with the team; serve as a conduit to management with Member/employee issues, accolades, and concerns; establish expectations, communicate goals, and provide feedback to ensure metrics are reached; confer with Members as the principal loan officer to provide recommendations and guidance related to lending needs and analyze loan requests to make credit decisions based on established consumer lending guidelines, communicating decisions to the Member; and oversee the general maintenance and security of his/her location by ensuring proper control and accountability of cash and adherence to applicable credit union policies and procedures. He/She will represent the branch and Alabama ONE in civic and community activities and partners with Select Employee Groups (SEG) to attract business and increase Membership.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Manage daily branch operations; assign and direct work of retail and platform TEAM in the branch; ensure effective communication and serve as conduit to management with Member/TEAM issues, accolades, and concerns; establish expectations, communicate goals with branch TEAM, and provide feedback to ensure metrics are reached

- Confer with Members as the principal loan officer to provide recommendations and guidance related to lending needs and analyze loan requests to make credit decisions based on established consumer lending guidelines, communicating decisions to the Member

-Proactively facilitates member interactions, answers inquiries, identifies needs to make suggestions for products and services accordingly, makes referrals to partners as needed.

- Supports branch Member retention and relationship development through regular contact with existing and potential Members; through contact with Members, will develop sales leads and cross-sell additional products and services

- Projects a professional appearance and observes the credit union dress code as defined in the Employee Handbook. 

- Operates in a manner which is consistent with Alabama One’s mission statement. 

- Oversee the general maintenance and security of the branch location; ensure proper control and accountability of cash and adherence to applicable credit union policies and procedures

- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information regarding credit union records, personnel files and internal matters.

- Ensure all established policies and procedures are followed during completion of operational tasks to minimize and mitigate risks.

- Assists in the handling of customer dissatisfaction, seeks to resolve appropriately. 

- Maintains a dependable record of attendance and timeliness.

- Engage in ongoing training conducive for job role to enhance skills, maintain proficiency levels, and help improve overall job performance. 

- Contribute to branch revenue growth through Small Business development and new client acquisitions. Adopt branch routines that vary between face-to-face appointments with clients, outbound calling, and prospecting. Build an actionable pipeline of new prospects; including strong knowledge of small business products and services.

- Represent branch and Alabama One in civic and community activities; partner with SEGs to attract business and increase Membership

- Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

- High School Diploma/GED

- 2+ years of experience in financial services, banking, or customer-facing financial roles

- Effective communicator

- Exhibit excellent teamwork with a positive, professional demeanor

- Proven ability to manage staff, set goals, and drive performance

- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with financial software

- Ability to quickly learn and maintain up-to-date knowledge of Alabama One products and services, including consumer loans and procedures related to new account sales

Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree

- 2 to 4 years of experience in the financial services industry, with at least 1–3 years in a supervisory or assistant branch manager role

-Commercial Land and Ag experience is preferred but not required.

Skills Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 2 years of experience in financial services, banking, or customer-facing financial roles
  • Effective communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork and a positive, professional demeanor
  • Proven ability to manage staff, set goals, and drive performance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with financial software
  • Ability to learn and maintain current knowledge of credit union products, consumer loans, and new account procedures
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two to four years of financial services experience, including one to three years in a supervisory or assistant branch manager role
  • Commercial land and agricultural experience
