PRIMARY FUNCTION  

 

The manufacturing supervisor oversees manufacturing processes within the vinyl and regrind production areas to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency. This position requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as a solid understanding of manufacturing workflows and compliance standards. The role provides operational shift leadership for our people and our processes including troubleshooting and resolving issues, coordinating team activities and work schedules to meet production expectations, oversees training processes and addresses performance concerns to build consistent team talent, and promotes a positive work environment to drive results and accountability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve manufacturing issues, improve quality, safety, and efficiency, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

DIRECT SUPERVISION: Vinyl and Regrind Shift Associates (including secondary processes)


KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

 

Process & Production Oversight

· Provide operational leadership for manufacturing operations, including the areas of vinyl and regrind with accountability for safety, quality, and efficiency.

· Set clear expectations, monitor performance, and hold associates accountable to production goals across regrind and vinyl production operations.

· Monitor and enforce adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and production standards, addressing non-compliance issues immediately.

· Lead daily shift start-up meetings, assign tasks, and coordinate activities among production associates.

· Oversee the troubleshooting of process and equipment issues including training, coaching, and mentoring the use of tools such as the troubleshooting guide; escalate to maintenance or engineering as appropriate.

· Ensures operators and maintenance support perform correct machine set-up, calibration, and adjustments to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, etc.) to resolve recurring issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.

· Serve as the first point of contact for operational or personnel concerns during the shift.

· Oversee the accuracy of production reporting, downtime records, and documentation in Kinetic ERP, Hexagon, and other applicable processes.

· Standardized process control and troubleshooting aligned with facility standards.

· Full visibility to performance, issues, and improvement opportunities across the system.


Quality Assurance & Inspection

· Oversee in-process and final inspections on manufactured vinyl products.

· Able to perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections using appropriate tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) as needed.

· Ensure on-shift Quality support documents non-conformances.

· Able to conduct and support internal and external audits and ensure measuring equipment calibration.

· Assist in root cause analysis and recommend process improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and safety.

· Ensure quality procedures and work instructions are followed consistently across multi shifts.

· Ensure accurate inspection records and test data are maintained on the shift.

· Accountability of associates for quality standards and efficiency.


Training & Leadership

· Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to all shift associates on role assignments, workplace standards, and performance expectations as part of the team.

· Participates in the hiring of new associates and leads the “on shift” onboarding process to support a successful transition to the team.

· Oversee the training and mentoring of new and existing associates on production equipment, safety protocols, quality standards, and inspection techniques.

· Reinforce accountability and address attendance (reliability), performance, safety, and teamwork concerns.

· Promote a positive workplace culture of safety, quality, and efficiency across the team.

· Communicate effectively with cross-functional departments to resolve issues and maintain operational workflow to meet or exceed production expectations.

· Builds a one-team approach across production areas, maintenance support, and quality support.

· Ensures accurate and timely completion of timekeeping responsibilities for their team and coordinates coverage as needed for planned time off that could impact the success of the team.



 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:


· Associate’s degree or technical training equivalent with demonstrated proficiency through experience.

· Prior Paulsen Training or RJG a plus.

· Minimum 3–5 years of manufacturing experience with proven background and knowledge working with quality control and equipment operation. May specialize in process or quality control.

· Prior leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience.

· Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and troubleshooting techniques.

· Ability to interpret technical documents, blueprints, schematics, and SOPs.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with ERP or manufacturing systems.

· Skilled in using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

· Strong attention to detail, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to build and lead teams, influence positive behavior, manage/resolve conflict, and drive accountability and efficiency by focusing on people and process.

· Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a physically demanding environment.

· Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, or weekends as needed.

· Must adhere to safety protocols, wear appropriate PPE, and comply with all EHS requirements.
