Materials and Process Technology (M&PT) is seeking a high performing, collaborative associate Manufacturing Research and Development (MR&D) Engineer to join our team located at the Boeing facility in Berkeley, Missouri.
This position reports to the St. Louis MR&D team within the Materials and Process Technology organization. The MR&D group supports Defense and Weapons production and development programs within the St. Louis site, leading advanced manufacturing technology insertion and integration into the production system.
Position Responsibilities:

• Provides support to St. Louis BDS (Boeing Defense, Space and Security) production programs and development projects in the areas of robotics/automation, production equipment, mechatronics, process development, and mechanical drilling/fastening/inspection/assembly technologies.
• Candidate will support operations across fabrication, paint operations, and assembly operations in support of multiple aircraft and weapons programs.
• Candidate will work with technical mentoring from a technical lead engineer (TLE); supporting the completion of tasks on projects and developing solutions to technical problems. Works on special assignments with additional support.
• Applies knowledge of engineering and scientific principles to aircraft design efforts, production operations improvements, development and implementation of a wide range of technologies, and aircraft assembly cost reduction efforts
• Reviews engineering documents, drawings, and supports design reviews to ensure proper selection and specification of equipment and processes for assembly operations
• Candidate will draft engineering specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes. Assists with development and qualification of new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements.
• Evaluates novel technologies for potential application to business needs
• Performs assessments on technologies proposed and/or procured for production
• Works directly with engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to perform manufacturing process improvements and implementation of robotics, automation, and manufacturing technologies to achieve cost reductions
• Coordinates with supplier management for purchase of production equipment, including high value capital equipment
• Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements
• Resolves programmatic and technical problems that would affect cost, schedule, and performance
• Supports root cause and corrective action reviews by conducting engineering investigations for fabrication and/or assembly issues

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience): (please see education and experience for the levels below)

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry.
• 1+ years of industry experience in aerospace or large-scale manufacturing

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience):

• Automation experience
• Working with production and other engineering teams

Typical Education/Experience:
Level 2
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range (level 2): $91,800 - $124,200
