We are seeking a permanent Manufacturing Quality Engineer (Level 1 MQE) to join our team based on site in Port Melbourne. This role sits within our Quality team, undertaking inspection responsibilities and an Engineering degree is NOT required.
The Quality team at Boeing Aerostructures Australia (BAA) ensures that conforming aerospace components are consistently delivered to our commercial airplane customers. MQE's inspect, verify product, problem solve and provide guidance to operations teams and are a vital part of our manufacturing support.
There is ongoing opportunity within the Quality team to challenge yourself with the use of new digital technologies and develop an understanding of complex products. Most importantly, as a member of the Quality team you will be an advocate for our customers through inspection and verification of our products.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Perform / coordinate First Article Inspection records
  • Ensure the current revision of tooling is maintained in the work area
  • Verify product conformance through inspection and process compliance via oversight
  • Raise and contribute to resolution of NCR's (Non-Conformance Reports) and CAR's (Corrective Action Reports)
  • Create standard repair instructions
  • Create and maintain Quality Records (Quality System and Project specific)
  • Review and report quality performance
  • Participate in external and internal audits
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide technical training
  • This role does not require any Engineering work

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):
You will need to be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Experience in and/or knowledge of Manufacturing and/or Inspection processes
  • Excellent communication and team work skills
  • Ability to measure using hand measurement equipment
  • Willingness to undertake shift work
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to interpret specification requirements
  • Experience in problem solving techniques
  • Trade or tertiary qualifications is highly regarded (No Engineering degree required)
  • Quality inspection/assurance experience is highly regarded
  • Knowledge of 3D and 2D Engineering models and GD&T is highly regarded
  • Knowledge of aircraft parts and the Aerospace Industry is highly regarded
  • Full unrestricted Australian working rights

Classification Level: These positions are covered by the Boeing Aerostructures Australia Pty Ltd (Port Melbourne) Enterprise Agreement 2025. These are Level 1 MQE (120%) award positions.
