Description

Drives quality, continuous improvement, and training activities throughout the Manufacturing Business Unit. Target of 75% billable time (performing panel inspections) and 25% non-billable (training development/delivery and continuous improvement).

Best Practices and Quality Responsibilities

  • Inspects the work of the MFG Team for accuracy and workmanship. Completes quality checklists and reports results to Management Team. 
  • Is an authority on EOSYS® standards of Quality and Excellence in Manufacturing. Serves as a mentor and trainer to members of the Manufacturing business unit on these standards.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement in accuracy, efficiency and workmanship for Manufacturing projects. Reports issues that require follow-up or investigation.
  • Identifies and incorporates improvements to Manufacturing quality audit processes.
  • Participates in and leads meetings as required.
  • Has a basic understanding of all company functions and departments.

Technical

  • Supports teams in design, development and delivery of manufacturing deliverables.
  • Panel Wiring: Provides technical direction for all panel wiring activities.
  • Backplate and Enclosure Metal Work: Provides technical direction for all backplate and enclosure metal work activities.
  • Troubleshooting and Check Out: Performs troubleshooting and check out activities. Responsible for final quality control checks.
  • Proficiency in ProgeCAD is a plus.

Mentoring

  • Takes initiative to mold the performance of others and uses feedback tools to support career growth.
  • Mentors team in advanced technical principles and tools appropriate to areas of expertise.
  • Advocates and guides technology change -- Transfers knowledge base across company -- Advises, counsels and mentors customers and team members on current technology.

Qualifications 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two-year technical school, trade school, electrical apprenticeship program, contractor's license or other related industry certificates or licensure a plus.
  • Seven or more years of experience in any of the following or equivalent experience: Industrial electrical control maintenance, Electrical construction experience or OEM experience with major manufacturing companies.

Computer Skills

  • Microsoft Office Suite and various other industry related software and hardware as required.

Language Skills

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluently in English. Must have ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write concise correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. 

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. 
  • Ability to calculate standard electrical formulas, such as Ohm’s law.

Other

  • Ability to distinguish between the full range of colors in the color spectrum to work with electrical wires and equipment.
  • Ability to work with hands in the use of hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, knives, hacksaws, and wire strippers.
  • Ability to use a variety of power tools and electrical testing equipment.
  • Use graphic instructions such as blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, or other visual aids.

Reasoning Ability

  • Must have ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. 

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands to handle or feel or use objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop or kneel; talk, see, and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

  • The work environment for this job is a combination of office and industrial setting with little exposure to weather 

Skills Required

  • Proficiency in ProgeCAD
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to compute electrical formulas (e.g., Ohm's law) and perform basic math (rates, ratios, percentages)
  • Ability to read and use blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, and graphic instructions
  • Ability to distinguish full range of colors for wiring and electrical work
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment
  • Experience with panel wiring, backplate/enclosure metal work, troubleshooting, check out, and final quality control checks
  • Fluent English reading, writing, and speaking
