Position Summary (2nd & 3rd Shifts)

IFS Industries is seeking a hands-on, motivated, and results-driven Production Supervisor to lead manufacturing operations at our Garland facility. This role is responsible for driving safety, quality, production performance, employee development, and continuous improvement while ensuring daily operations meet company standards and customer expectations.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, builds accountability within teams, and actively participates in solving operational challenges.

 This position supports manufacturing operations on the following shifts:

  • 2nd Shift: 1:45 PM – 10:15 PM
  • 3rd Shift: 9:45 PM – 6:15 AM

Candidates must be willing to work the assigned shift, overtime as needed, and support operational requirements during peak production periods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce all safety procedures, PPE requirements, lockout/tagout practices, and housekeeping standards.
  • Lead daily safety meetings and weekly toolbox talks.
  • Identify, address, and report unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ISO, and company regulations.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and submit detailed corrective action reports within 24 hours.

Quality Management

  • Ensure products are manufactured according to specifications, SOPs, batch tickets, operating instructions, quality testing requirements, and packaging procedures.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to address deviations, CAPAs, and customer complaints.
  • Drive reduction of defects, rework, and process variability.
  • Verify documentation accuracy, traceability, and required sign-offs.
  • Conduct routine audits and immediately address non-conformances.

Production Operations

  • Execute assigned production schedules safely and efficiently.
  • Deliver production targets on time and in full.
  • Analyze missed production goals and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor throughput, downtime, scrap, labor efficiency, and machine utilization.
  • Coordinate staffing, shift coverage, and production resources.
  • Escalate production bottlenecks and operational issues promptly.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and supervise hourly operators and line leads.
  • Cross-train employees to improve workforce flexibility.
  • Develop working knowledge of all equipment and processes within assigned areas.
  • Train and certify new employees on job functions and safety requirements.
  • Conduct coaching sessions, performance evaluations, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Foster accountability, teamwork, engagement, and positive morale across shifts.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to eliminate waste and improve efficiency.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions.
  • Support root cause analysis and process improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects that enhance safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.

Inventory & Materials Coordination

  • Ensure materials are available to support production schedules.
  • Coordinate with shipping, receiving, planning, and scheduling teams.
  • Minimize shortages, excess inventory, and inventory discrepancies.
  • Support cycle counts and annual physical inventory activities.
  • Equipment & Maintenance Coordination
  • Report, prioritize, and follow up on equipment issues.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance activities with the maintenance team.
  • Assist in reducing unplanned downtime and recurring equipment failures.

Reporting & Communication

  • Maintain accurate production logs, shift reports, and operational records.
  • Communicate priorities and issues across Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Planning teams.
  • Lead effective shift handoff meetings to ensure continuity between shifts.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety standards, and quality systems.
  • Experience leading teams, coaching employees, and managing performance.
  • Ability to analyze production data and drive operational improvements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and manufacturing reporting systems.
  • Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and manufacturing compliance requirements.
  • Experience in chemical manufacturing, coatings, or industrial production environments is a plus.

Physical Requirements

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring active engagement on the production floor. The Production Supervisor is expected to lead by example, work closely with operators and line leads, monitor production activities, troubleshoot operational issues, conduct audits, train employees, and support the team in meeting safety, quality, and production objectives. 

To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, employees must be able to: 

  • Lift and move materials weighing up to 55 pounds.
  • Stand and walk for the duration of an 8-hour shift or longer as required.
  • Frequently bend, reach, twist, push, pull, and climb as necessary to support production operations.
  • Climb stairs and safely access various areas of the manufacturing facility.
  • Work in a non-temperature-controlled manufacturing environment and tolerate varying temperatures throughout the year.
  • Work around moving equipment, industrial materials, noise, and other manufacturing conditions.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times, including safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, and a bump cap, as required.
  • Actively monitor production activities, perform audits, train employees, troubleshoot operational issues, and assist with production processes as needed.
